At 10KM from my Vodafone 4G 800 mast, I could get -105dBm through DENSE foliage. So I would say 20KM+ for 3's higher power 800.

Can I ask you how far you were from the mast? Just wondering how far 800mhz can realistically travel..
I was about half a mile from the mast when I did that speed test.

Yep, it's so frustrating knowing there's a better Three network if I had a different phone. So many places I go to convert from either no signal/erratic 3G to 4G.

My home signal is pants and for all Three in Touch app helps, it's not the same as a proper signal.. I only hope this iPhone carrier update comes soon. Like you say, it's so frustrating knowing there is a potential better signal already out there but just can't access yet.. Argh!!!

Got -120db about 12 miles from Beacon Hill on 3 800. Don't have a phone to use it but can see it. Looks like it will be pretty damned good. Who cares about the speed? Not me.

Fingers crossed, they seem to be working on the coverage checker tonight as its bringing back some strange results (enter the s5 and it doesn't say what it should). Whenever I got through to someone who knew what they were talking about the iPhone update was going to happen soon they said.

It's even more frustrating having a phone which is only a few months old and fully compatible except for the fact that my phone came from a high street retailer rather than Three, so no 800MHz 4G or VoLTE for me.

No chance of switching over to Three's firmware either. Samsung have made it so you cannot downgrade or crossover to a phone retailers firmware even for the same model and Android version by implementing checks in the bootloader since 5.0.2 which cannot be over-ridden unless someone releases a hack and custom Three firmware, which is likely to be slim to none.

I can only imagine Apple and Microsoft executives giving a sly laugh at all of this.

Question for the iPhone owners (specifically 6 Plus/6s Plus).

I thought it was pointless to start a thread for the sake of probably no more than a handful of posts, but I'm after a case for my 6s Plus.

Ideally, I want a flip-type case that's quite tight to the phone if that makes sense? i.e. So the size isn't much bigger with the case on as with the case off.

I'd also like a gap in the top left of the case so that I can still press the volume buttons when the phone is in the case and the case is closed.

Any recommendations?

Ta!

Yep, but hey....there's work in my area (again) on the 2nd November. That's about 9 days of work over the last 2/3 months making a frequency better that I can't acres. It had better be rock star when I get the update and can access 800.

I feel you pain! Can't imagine they will stick with this especially as they are so big on sim only deals.

I love how people are blaming Networks for this problem when it's completely Google's fault because of how Android is programmed and OEM's like Samsung just making it harder.

I have changed my firmware on my S6 Edge several times. I can't say that I have downgraded though. The last flash was from UK provider free firmware to 3 UK firmware and the phone works fine.

Tbh I am fed up of poor signal in my workplace (1 bar of 3G, no WiFi access) although their maps show excellent 3G/4G signal therefore I took the decision to change to Vodafone as they offer good signal (tested by my colleagues).

I spoke to them about requesting the PAC and they tried to convince me to stay, without offering a better price. They only talked to me about InTouch which is buggy and not applicable to me (no WiFi at work) and Feel at Home (which does not include the countries I usually go to). Therefore, that's it for me... I will move to Vodafone for the next year. We'll see how things go with them.

I've managed to connect my LG G4 to 800MHz using the root method. One thing that is a lot better than my S5 is being able to manually select 800MHz(Band 20). The problem is that I haven't got VoLTE to work and there is no CSFB which means that the call doesn't connect. Because of this, I'm glad that 800MHz is at the lowest priority at the moment but I'd still prefer if somebody could help me to set up VoLTE. I've tried pressing random boxes in the hidden menu and have had no luck.

That's exactly how they were with me, told them I was leaving due to poor signal at home, poor reception at work and no data on my work commute, on three different phones and little 4g. there response was use the intouch app, when I told them it didn't work well due to the poor speed of my adsl, they responded with telling me my house and work location was in an area with good indoor reception and no issues on any other masts, so with that I left and went to Vodafone, great indoor reception, 4g indoors at home too, 24 mbps 3g at work and a usable phone on my commute at last. No discount offered, not that it mattered to me just a lie about never being kicked off my one plan ever, unless I left and would never get offered it again. It was the everything's alright here with us, must be your problem attitude that really annoyed me,

Does anyone have a link to 3 UK firmware for a totally unlocked HTC One M8?

I assume that the 3 UK HTC One M8 will eventually be enabled for VoLTE?
