In saying that, BT still have their 2.6GHz "Niche Spectrum Ventures" spectrum it won at the 4G auction that could be made a condition of BT's buyout of EE to be sold to a potentially new "4th" network.
Back to coverage, and the difference in coverage between 3's 800 & 1800 MHz 4G (assuming they are using common masts at present) is very noticeable. I know that 3 are on a few mountain top sites in Co. Tyrone (through their integration into MBNL in NI) and if they site 800MHz cells at full power here, some of those sites will likely give a 15-20 mile coverage radius easily. 30 miles might not be impossible.
