I'm guessing it works in the same way as it does with non-supported devices/firmware. It doesn't work.

Tested with my FreedomPop SIM just now. Can confirm 800MHz does not work.

I would doubt it in its current form, MVNO's don't get the "extras" and Supervoice with limited handsets is in that category.

Just like EE MVNOs have no access to WifiCalling yet.

I've heard 'end of year or beginning of next year' from their Social Media support. They keep postponing it...

Right, I've published an article and notified Three that I was doing so (and they say they'll respond with a comment) about the data speed issue when roaming.

I agree that if you're paying £5 a day, which is crazy expensive, you should be able to use at the absolute minimum YouTube at 360p. They technically do say that streaming for Feel At Home will be slower but they don't say unusable. I doubt they'll do anything about it though. It's all about the marketing rather than the end result.

I got VoLTE to work on my rooted LG G4. Before it was just 800MHz data, but Three technical support just told me to result the APN setting to default which created an IMS APN setting. Now I can make VoLTE phone calls which I'm really happy about. I say just told; what I mean is 10 minutes after doing pointless things such as changing the network mode.

Thanks for pushing this forward Jon.

It's a major source of frustration for me. In Italy a couple years ago I foolishly relied on ThreeUK only and their roaming. Remote desktop to my servers (uses approx 50MB per hour) was unusable. I had to buy a local SIM on Three Italy (same network I was roaming on) to get normal speeds. On subsequent trips I've used certain VPNs and found reasonable speeds too.

It's very disappointing they aren't honest about this. I don't mind paying for what I need, but I don't want to buy one thing and get another. I suspect that they cannot afford to offer unlimited data abroad without these tricks. I'd rather they used EE's method of declaring what you get so you can choose fairly between operators.

It's not unlimited if it simply won't serve your purposes. It's just rubbish and disappointing.

It's like the bad old days of not being given the information to be able to choose the right product. This is certainly not "making it right" in my book.

Also, I noticed whilst here the phone actually stuck to using 4g 800 rather than flitting to 3g2100. Back home my phone would rather cling to an unusable 3g2100 signal rather than going on to 4g800
I was in the Grangetown area and I had full bars of 4g800 the whole way on my walk around. Very impressed. Wish it was like this back home though!

I'm now back to getting pretty good speeds on Three at home and around (as in 25-30Mbps when outdoors) so it seems they're now upgrading around London at last.

These speeds are beating Vodafone 4G, but obviously WAY behind EE's 4G+.

Still, good enough and the latency is down again. Was often better using 3G for much of this year.

That'll be 1800MHz, not 800. That kind of speed isn't possible on Three 800.

It's a rooted non Three device from Expansys. It does have Three firmware flashed to it as well as customisations for it to even connect to 800MHz which can be found at XDA.

As ja says, the theoretical absolute maximum 5Mhz at 800 can carry is 37Mbps
This would be if you were the only person on that cell and you'd climbed up and strapped yourself to the antenna!!
Has to be 1800.

Unfortunately the two arrows at the top just mean your are connect to the IMS core and appear on 4G connections including 800MHz. If you tried to make a phone call you'd drop to 3G and I know because I have an S5 as well as an LG G4.

Not exactly 4G, (well not at all)... but for the long suffering 3G users in north central Telford there is hopefully a light at the end of the tunnel. Noticed the Three map checker actually acknowledged issues in the Ketley area, so thought it was worth a call.

I've been told that the transmitter will be replaced by the 21st november, with work also being carried out on the 7th November... after over 2 or 3 years worth of issues with this cell, is there a light a the end of the tunnel?

Just checked my coverage and it's changed for VOLTE... Now looks like great coverage, now all is need is access with my iPhone! Come on Three, hurry up with this update..,
