That's awesome! These fearsome beasts we would normally run (or swim) away from screaming like mad can be big softies indeed...

This clip is part of a much longer BBC documentary.
The whole story of Giles and the cubs is extraordinary enough in itself but I remember gasping when I saw this bit - to sit so close to a big cat when she is giving birth takes some enormous courage. Tiger mum clearly trusted Giles with her life and her newborns, which would be against all her normal maternal instincts. Don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. Hat off to you Giles. (For anyone who loves big cats, the documentary is well worth watching.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR6X-j55eEA |

Ever wonder what happened to the gorillas who met David Attenborough?
Well wonder no more. http://www.bbc.co.uk/earth/story/201...d-attenborough The superpower that enables snakes to withstand up to 30G when they strike ( I know many people do not regard snakes as a 'nice' animal but I love them). http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20160...ing-superpower |

I recently enjoyed the story of the German Shepherd dog that was awarded the St George Cross gor his bravery in detecting bombs in Afghanistan.
There was also a story a few years back of George the brave dog who was a Yorkshire terrier who protected a young girl in a park who was being attacked by two pit bull terriers. He was also awarded the St George Cross for bravery. |
