That was exciting to watch. Ihad no idea that whales behaved like that.
![]() This is not nice in any way - but rather than start a new thread I will stick it in here. Do you think you're having a bad day? Not when compared to this poor Impala (RIP)! ![]() http://www.earthtouchnews.com/natura...ppos-and-crocs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT9i8B1bBJk |

Yes - it shows once again that many animals are capable of great empathy.

A herd of elephants trying to rescue a calf. Watch how one elephant puts its leg out from behind for the calf to try and grab hold of.

Oh, the relief!
When they all left , I wondered if the mother had told them to go for a while to see if the little calf would settle down and concentrate . It looked like they were only hiding in the bushes rather than just wandering off not bothered as it first appeared . |

Wonderful video, thanks so much. I wanted to get into the water and push the calf back onto the ground myself

Yes it's a good job the video had a nice title so you could guess it had a happy ending.

Some good news for a change - Kakapos have an endearing innocence about them that is simply irresistible. ![]() http://www.earthtouchnews.com/conser...rarest-parrots |

Sweet and trusting!
![]() "[The kakapo] is an extremely fat bird. A good-sized adult will weigh about six or seven pounds, and its wings are just about good for waggling a bit if it thinks it's about to trip over something — but flying is out of the question. Sadly, however, it seems that not only has the kakapo forgotten how to fly, but it has forgotten that it has forgotten how to fly. Apparently a seriously worried kakapo will sometimes run up a tree and jump out of it, whereupon it flies like a brick and lands in a graceless heap on the ground." "The kakapo is a bird out of time. If you look one in its large, round, greeny-brown face, it has a look of serenely innocent incomprehension that makes you want to hug it and tell it that everything will be all right, thought you know that it probably will not be."
