Apologies if previously linked (it's from 2012) but saw this on a TV clip show the other day -
A baby Squirrel found dangling in a tree, impaled on a big thorn through it's neck (ouch). Dropped by a bird perhaps. Help is at hand though, thanks to it's distinctive cries -

I came across this, a mismatched dog family... it made me chuckle!

The look on the Dad dog's face!

EDIT: the look was better in the photo they had in the paper It was a proud look of 'yep, that was me'

More on Toughie.

Sadly we are in the middle of the sixth mass extinction event in the planet's history and very few people give a shit.

Yes they are the nearest thing to a small theropod dinosaur that we have left.

As for the hummingbird - the poor bugger made all that effort and she still tells him to piss off!

Birds are living dinosaurs, and there are over 10,000 species still with us (and look up Brontornis and Kelenken the largest of the phorusrhacids - the 'terror birds'.)

I thought this thread was supposed to be for posting nice stories/videos etc about animals, the very opposite of the kind of horrible stuff that's in the links you've posted...

Well it had broadened out into a general wildlife thread sometimes.

But yes, perhaps you are right.

I should not have posted although they are all nice and beautiful species.

Sorry.

It''s nice to see them before they disappear once and for all. Niceness isn't diminished by extinction.
