He was right about her accent as well. She has obviously toned it down when talking to all the English in there, its something that happens naturally, you mimic, your vocal inflection changes to fit in and be understood. When she was speaking to him one on one, her accent reverted to proper thick Dublin. Which also happens when you have an accent and speak to someone from home, you relax and speak normally.”

I know people like Jade too, and her accent in the series toned down like you said, but when she was annoyed about something it went into natural mode, and I wondered if she was from the Malahide area. But after hearing her speaking to Mark, her accent was very thick, bordering on the Liberties.

You can be a wind up but still not mean to actually offend people. Its that thing of wanting to win, kinda like "I can say worse things than you, quicker than you and you cant beat me ha haar"

Plus, its all very well to say he doesnt know anyone, but he does, we all do, we have been watching it, we feel like we know them. He feels more comfortable around them than they do around him because of that.

I haven't said anything about whether he intended to offend them; he intends to wind up, annoy, and provoke them, and then he manipulates them so that feel they were in the wrong by reacting as they did and that really he's ok.

I dont think he does, I dont think he feels they were wrong. He says "sorry if you were offended, I didnt mean it like that" or words to that effect. I think he just has no boundries and will say just about anything and then say sorry later, after he realises he has over stepped. Its pretty much what he said in the DR, when he explained that he wouldnt do it with Chloe "because she has no banter"

She does though, she ripped into him no trouble. Once she knows him, I wouldnt put it past her to give as good as she gets with him.

I think I understand your point of view on this, but I don't agree. I think he's a manipulative, malicious WUM who uses "only joking", seeming apologies, etc as a way to further manipulate the people he wound up, annoyed, and provoked. His "she has no banter" was a way to say it's a defect in Chloe that she didn't like his remark.

And it shouldn't be necessary to "give as good as you get" with him, because he shouldn't be doing it in the first place.

It really does seem that way. He doesn't seem to have an ounce of empathy or understanding.
