They come up here every so often.

Support is an absolute joke and no 4G.

Their name is faintly idiotic and is the first thing that does not inspire confidence!

After having written a lot about getting cheap mobile data, along with what networks restrict tethering or speed cap, and so on, I was quite intrigued about TPO and 31GB of data for £19.99 a month (with 10% given to a charity of your choice).

So I asked them if I could test 'their' network out and they've given me a SIM for the whole of July.

It took a while to get the APN settings on the phone as I first tried to use their app on the Play Store which needed a SMS to be sent/received and it didn't come through... ballache. Eventually discovered the APN is tslpaymnet - no user id/password, just that. Very simple! Why not just say that nice and clearly on the site?!

Anyway, using EE's network, I did my first speed test to see if there was any obvious throttling and got 15Mb down and just under 2Mb up, with a nice low ping time (sub-50ms) so it seems fine. Indeed, despite lacking 4G, as long as you're using an upgraded site on EE, which is most likely, then I'd imagine speeds to be pretty decent. Certainly on a par with Three.

The only catch for me is that you can't tether. I haven't tried yet as, given it's EE like BT Mobile, there may not be any physical detection in place, but it is nevertheless in breach of the terms & conditions.

But for £20 a month with unlimited calls and texts, and 31GB of data usable on the handset (or tablet) it's not bad at all. Think of it as getting 11GB of data 'free' by sacrificing 4G (compared to BT's 20GB tariff).

I'm not sure why I'd need to call customer service, so is that a problem? What's likely to go wrong?

Sure, there are no frills (no data roaming or anything like that) but it is what it is.
