Probably more like... drunk. This was a few years after his drunk on the floor Hamburger incident, but I don't think anyone seriously believed he wasn't still packing it away off camera.
It really is interesting that none of these suggestions are anyone younger.
I suppose Simon must be right to avoid that with this show if informally here nobody can come up with even a single name of anyone worthwhile who's under 30 (even McIntyre is almost 40).
It does speak to the demographic of the show, I suppose. Whereas let's say.. The Voice.. has tried to nab younger viewers (even with someone as old as Tom Jones along for the ride), Simon's two big shows go for the oldies as viewers.

Hah. Even though Brand isn't any younger than most of these other suggestions, he's such a counterculture figure that's actually a clever idea.
He'd never do it, probably. Or ask so much money it would make even Walliams ridiculous salary look like peanuts.

That's a very good idea. I always thought the show worked better with just three judges, and ditching the two newer ones (Dixon and Walliams) would more than pay for Brand's salary. He'd certainly make things interesting and boost ratings, but with BGT doing so well anyway, there is no incentive for ITV bosses to shake things up and put a controversial figure in there.
I'm just thinking about the arguments Brand would have with Cowell. That would make for great TV!

Britain's Got Talent isn't The X Factor, though - it shouldn't be about cheap arguments between the judges.

Silly voice. Silly ideas. Terminally scruffy. No talent. No intelligent comments on anything.
Not that much difference from Walliams in fact, except that Walliams, whilst always impeccably turned out, does labour under the painful delusion that every act is always "brilliant", "the best he's ever seen" and so on regardless of the quality. And, of course, his presence on the panel never leaves you feeling itchy and unclean.

I don't think he is aiming for old people for BGT. I think BGT's audience will likely mainly be young viewers aged between 16-30. Possibly female.
If you look at someone like Michael McIntyre or David Walliams, they're aimed more at people like me around the age of 18 as opposed to someone in their 50s.

Russell Brand could be funny. I have a feeling he'd be very outspoken, although would Simon Cowell want another mean judge on the panel?
If he was a judge, I think he'd only last one series because Simon would fire him after he turns out to be the harsher judge. There is no way Russell Brand would listen to anyone telling him to be the Piers Morgan or David Walliams-type judge who roots for the novelty acts.

2. Anne Widdecombe - Some solid female attitude and colour for the show.
3. Rita Ora - Would be a good poach from the Voice. Would balance out Widdecombe as the 'nicer and younger' one, but also has expertise in music and is in a position to criticise rubbish singers.
4. Peter Hitchens - The show needs another Piers Morgan type, but better! Simon's getting a bit too nice (relatively) in his later years, and doesn't buzz as many awful acts as in the past. Peter simply wouldn't give a toss who he upsets with his buzzes, he would just tell it like it was with some snappy inventive similes and comparisons... and the show without question, needs that again. Getting a bit bored with Walliams' overacting and falseness now.

Anne Widdecombe would be great because she's completely the opposite of the rest of the judges and wouldn't be afraid to criticise contestants. She would certainly put the other judges in their place as well and wouldn't stand for some of the more ridiculous and unfunny novelty acts.
Simon Cowell (because doubt we could get rid of him) Graham Norton, Katie Hopkins & Susan Boyle would make interesting judges!

i agree with Mel that would be amazing on bgt, especially as she wouldn't feel the need to be competitive as she was on xfuk because she was mentoring acts and wanted to win and it would make her more likeable. it's a shame cause i really loved her on xf, she was blunt and very direct, but then her dramatic personal life kicked in and it ruined things and doing both agt and bgt would be great for her. i disagree on the bit where you said she doesn't tell the truth as much on agt anymore though, i actually think she's stayed the same since she started and she's always gone with her gut which then leads to her not to going with what the audience want but what she thinks is best. anyway she's definitely honest on there and much more genuine than simon because he's pretty false nowadays and she's just real whether people disagree or not she's genuine and i believe simon knows that or he would've kicked her off agt too. i wouldn't mind Heidi doing it with her on bgt aswell
