I think it'll make 200k total by this time next year given a few decent singles. That will be good enough for the label i feel in this day and age.

I think he'll do about 10k this week...it's holding up nicely on iTunes and Amazon.

You sound fun.

To be honest I think 200k is a very optimisitic figure, and I really can't see subsequent singles doing much for it... Will seems to be very much a fanbase act these days who can't rely on hit singles, sadly. That's not all bad though - to get a #1 album well over a decade after winning a talent show with no preceding hits after a fairly lengthy absence is very impressive IMO, even if the sales are fairly low!

Let's wait and see. There's a lot of people out there love Will, they just need their buttons pushing. People always underestimate Will and he keeps on going.

I agree. All his albums have been slow burners and rack up a decent figure after a while, Echoes was the same although it was a different sales climate. His lowest selling album sold 400,000 - i think it's safe to say he has a good level of support out there. Whether the singles are hits or not..i think the album will benefit still. i think 140-180k is achievable...

I would like released
Thank You(the next single)
Promise Me
Gold (at Christmas perhaps with a re-release)

PS Love Revolution has totally grown on me as a lead single now, it's ridiculously catchy!

Yes it is, slowly, slowly catchy monkey, I'm sure there's plenty of life left in 85% Proof, lots of good songs will trickle sell it to gold I think.

Funny.

Both versions have been kept at a very high price all the time, but I see they finally reduced the standard version on iTunes yesterday to £5.99 linked to the release of the second single Thank You. It's getting a lot of praise from non Will fans which is nice to see, and great airplay on Radio 2 despite few other stations picking it up through lack of commercial sound.

Has this even gone silver yet? There's no chance of platinum if it hasn't done 60,000 in two months.

It's tough for established artists who appeal to an older audience. Even Kylie only reached around 85,000 with her last album.

Without radio support apart from radio 2 what do you expect? Let's see how the current crop of chart toppers perform in 10 years time.

For the record, I don't think it will go platinum. Silver, probably, but nothing more. My post was in response to a poster on the first page who claimed that the album would go platinum.

It's almost impossible to have a platinum album these days; no album released this year has achieved it.

I think it will achieve Gold with a few more releases. Will has said he will be doing a lot more live stuff, festivals etc next year. Isn't silver 60k ? It 's just under 50k now.

I'm happy for him.

Well it passed the 50,000 total last week. I think my previous estimations were a tad optimistic i think he'll pass 100,000 by the end of the year. Not great in comparison to the past sales he has but it's a totally different market now days. He's in no danger of getting dropped at all. Still very much a popular liked artist now. There's no way he would not be able to find a label even if he was worst case scenario dropped by Island.

His sales are not all that bad for this climate.

I think 'Gold' at XMas will do the album a world of good. We all know Cowell hates him so i doubt a appearence on X Factor will happen maybe on Strictly. Maybe even a re-release? but i doubt it.

I really think Single 3 should be between Gold, Blue, Brave Man and Promise Me. I'd be happy with any of those.

He's hardly done any live stuff as yet and when he does the album will keep selling. I would love Promise Me to be the third single but he hardly ever releases what I think would be a good single, Jealousy being the exception.

It won't go Platinum. Album sales are ridiculously low these days.

I think the BPI need to change the certifications sales requirements in light of the changed market.

Agreed. Albums used to routinely sell enough to go platinum, now most are lucky if they go gold.

It is a really good album. But it is frustrating that some of the best songs are on the deluxe version, which the reviewers didn't hear and members of the public won't hear as it is difficult to come by.

Yes! Some live stuff coming up!

Carfest at the weekend, and three radio sessions.

Lovely to see Will singing on Aled Jones Weekend show this morning on ITV, nice interview and singing a great version of Thank You and his cover of Womack and Womacks Teardrops from the Radio 2 Sound of the Eighties album.

Just him and his wonderful vocals, a guitarist and keyboard accompaniment. I wish he would consider repackaging the album to include some of these stripped down versions.

Saw him at Carfest yesterday, after my band Skyeladder had played. I was really impressed with his natural ability on stage.
