Does Australia have the best produced version of Big Brother?

i have not actually seen much of it, but a superfan friend of mine who lives on the goldcoast swears its the best and makes our one look like gutter trash (though she said the UK one gets better characters these days)

apparently there is minimal interference, they have a voting system where the housemates award points to who they want to nominate, the ones with the most points are up for eviction and the public vote to save.

and the eviction nights are sleek with no baying mob.

any ideas? is there a better produced version out there somewhere? (for those who have seen it)

Didn't the last series of BB Australia have no Live Feed? Not exactly a good example of a brilliantly produced series then.

Last year's season was abysmal and led to the main series being cancelled and replaced with a celeb season set to air this year.

The earlier seasons (1-8) are much better and had live feed.

i like australian audience, they cheer HMs on first night and evictees who leave the house unlike dumb rude british audience who boo and meet everyone (mostly girls) like the first enemies of the country

Even a bad season of Oz BB is usually better than a good one of the UK version.

There's just a thousand little things they do that make the show more polished and coherent.

BB AU is aired early in the evening so it is a family show, HMs are not allowed to swear in the house at all or they are punished. BB is more authoritarian and is not really challenged. The show is a bit more structured with what happens each episode.
I haven't seen many series but Tim from a couple of seasons ago really made his series. Last year was ok.
I like it since I am an Aussie abroad and it reminds me of home.

I think for production you can't beat the US show but it is obviously a different kind of BB altogether.

It was by a wide margin IMO but not so much anymore. It's becoming more and more manipulated a la BBUK. Still a far cry from the hunger games version which is BBUS.

That's recent: for the first 7 or so series, they had an Uplate episode and the infamous Shower Hour.

You can watch literally hour after hour of Oz BB contestants lathering up their genitals in massive communal showers in close-up HD on the internet if you want to - that's a long way from "family show".

The US version isn't bad when it's about the social experiment aspect. But the last few years we've endured so many game-related twists that now it's become a parody of itself.

Australian BB is awful now. It's like the CBBC version of Big Brother.

There's also a "stadium" out the back for the Saturday night live It's A Knockout style game show, sometimes with an audience.

Yes especially with their endless stream of former hm's.

The only thing they all have in common is the guys stick together and the girls don't. In most series.

US production is very good though they have awesome sets and it is a professionally put together program. I did not like last season's twist but thanks to Derrick and live feed I enjoy the season immensely.
Last year I watched UK, US and AU while they aired and the winner of UK ruined it for me, US was awesome and AU just ok I was happy with the Aussie winner though.

That is all on Alison Grodner (the executive producer.) She's mostly to blame for what Big Brother has become here (though CBS does let her get away with it.)

You would think after how Big Brother 12 ended that these HGs would recognize a group of guys constantly hanging out together, and then click in their minds "alliance!" But Grodner ensures that the HGs casted are arguably the dumbest people alive. Many are "recruited," and thus have no idea how to play the game properly.

The reason the girls don't stick together most of the time simply has to do with the competitions; they tend to want the men to protect them, and to form showmances so that they don't get as targeted easily.

Last year one of the HGs, Joey, formed a girls' alliance. But those girls she aligned with ended up outing the alliance to the men in order to protect themselves, and Joey ended up being the first boot.

Derrick deserved the win, he really worked hard. Helen was the most engaged HM so she didn't coast of course had she been eligible to be up she'd have gone. I thought Christopher was most deserving that year but he came 3rd. The Aussie winner was awful I thought. He did nothing worthy of the win IMO. Took me awhile to remember Ryan he was so very dull throughout the series. Worst winner of BBAUS well other than the Twins, that was just criminal, Tim or Vesna deserved it way more.

Ausie BB is the best version. We have watched the last two years series and it is brilliant.

Perfect example. It was criminal what happened to Joey and it was that stupid model who was recruited that did it. What a bitch! She was so sure she could wrap any male around her little finger. So wrong, they dumped her as soon as they had the numbers. Just like Joey told them!

Live Feed is the most important part of the show. I've seen clips of Big Brother Australia and it's nowhere near as bad and tacky as ours but it isn't good.

I was with you right up until BBAU, agree about Christopher my fav from early on and Derrick is one of my all time fav reality players since I watched his work on live feed But as an Aussie I knew Ryan would do well from launch night. I think he did do things throughout he had a dry wit and he stirred a few things up. He is just a great Aussie winner but he is no Tim.

The girls had no chance on BBUS 16 the twist saw to it they would be up all the time and whether they stuck together or not they did not get a look in thanks to the half the house alliance.

He was the typical Aussie but I found him more like paint drying than anything else and he was rather rude about the women which always annoys me. The way he and his sister as well treated Priya I found unnecessary. But hey if you're happy that's all good, he was your winner. I rarely like the winner of BBUS but it has happened, it could happen.

My preference for BBs is:
1. Australia - by far the best
2. UK - not bad. The casting isn't great. Producer interference doesn't bother me much.
3. US - depends on the houseguests whether it's tolerable. Some years, I've loved. Some, can't even bear to watch. It is nice having the live feed - if the cast is bearable.
4. Canada - I tried to watch the first season, and have caught episodes here and there. Producer interference is just too heavy, and the contestants all think they're brilliant. And they're not.

Fair enough I really liked Priya actually would have been really happy to see her win. I think the rude to girls thing is something you have to be Aussie to understand we honestly give as good as we get and this coming from a feminist.
