Discounting a new phone already?!

Was with my mate yesterday he's on O2 and he has 5 months left on his contract. They called him and were trying to push the Samsung Galaxy S6 on him, willing to wave the £125 early upgrade fee if he wanted the phone. He said no i want an iPhone 6 they said he would have to pay the £125 early upgrade for that phone.

Seems a bit odd to being doing that already for a recently released flag ship phone, have the sales really plummeted that badly after the initial launch?

S6 has had worse sales than previous models - internally it's probably a disaster for Samsung.
