That was depressing.

I hated the first few episodes but that was funny, beautiful and touching. I loved it

Vicious was always disappointing (and I sat through 2 episodes being filmed) but that was especially poorly written. A real dud.

Just watching. Now I know why I never bothered before. Never knew Iwan Rheon was in it, he of GOT Ramsey Bolton, loved him in Misfits too.

The scripts were awful, the acting cringeworthy, but I did enjoy this show. Would always raise a few laughs. Sad to see it go!

I have always enjoyed Vicious. Yes it's not roll around hilarious, but that's what I liked about it. The 2016 'last ever ' episode ended nicely to. I wonder if Ash ever came back ... I do hope in a few years time we get a revisit (if they're all still alive) and then we can see if newbie Oliver still lives in Ash's old room.

Started watching but soon turned over - its about time that canned laughter was banned! 😬

one of the things about it was that the acting seems to be deliberately low key

This is two "Shakespearian" actors doing a low brow comedy, what sort of acting did you want?

Though I must agree with the posters who thought that the scripts for this particular episode were poor

It must have been heavily edited since filming with a live audience. It certainly sounded like canned laughter. Stopped and started abruptly and sounded very false and OTT.

all the episodes were filmed in front of live audiences (at the ITV studios on the South Bank) but I assume, as with all sitcoms these days, that the laughter is boosted after recording. Given the lameness of most sitcoms these days I'd say this is absolutely essential!

With Vicious the acting wasn't low key it was totally hammy and over the top, Iwan Rheon especially.
I actually felt sorry for him last night. Imagine watching with your family and thinking 'how did I get involved in this crud?'

I found the ending a bit random, why have they cancelled it ?
Series 2 was really good and funny I thought! Maybe not so much the one off special but it made me laugh out loud a few times! And I think another series could work with that new boy.

Sadly it was down to low ratings. Personally I think they should have put it on ITV3 and asked the 2 main actors if they would do it for a lower rate of pay.

Hopefully they would have done so as it is one of the few shows, showing an older gay couple.

It was always a funny little show but this was a very bizarre ending. Pathos is great in comedy if done correctly. But this show has the worst script structure I have ever seen in a TV show. They picked a rather good plotline with the Downtown Abbey card thing, for me that would have been a great little last episode.Freddie finds out Stuart wrote the card feels humiliated then realises he's perhaps got to give up the dream of being an actor and be thankful for what he has, and that's where your pathos could have come in to an extent. But that plot was abandoned and left hanging there like all the other random elements they threw in. Most lines weren't even jokes just bland statements. The random sad moments felt damn right bizarre but because the writing didn't lead you to know how to react to something. The radio play thing seemed to be lifted from an episode of Count Arthur Strong and the 'I'm scared' line seemed like a very poor version of Mitchell and Webb's old holmes sketch. It's a shame because with a good script this show could have been so much better.

Although it got low ratings I'd be surprised if it wasn't profitable, since it was sold abroad - shown in U.S. and Sweden for example. They could have kept it on ITV2/3.

but why bother when no-one's interested? The ratings thread reported appalling viewing figures for this last episode ..a viewing share just short of single figures!

Huh? People talk about shows being "hidden" on BBC2 or BBC4 even, but ITV3??

2 million people isn't no one. And like I say, it sold well internationally.

I have the ability to change channels and use other channels other than the main 4.

I've never considered a show 'hidden' just because it is not on BBC1, ITV1 or Channel 4.

Nor have I. I have never understood people who don't know how to use a remote. I was just saying what the perception seems to be. However it would never cross my mind to look at what is on ITV3. (I was scarcely aware it existed.)

The show has always been a bit hit and miss but they shouldve concentrated on two festive specials rather than split it up over a one hour 'special'

The set-up and characters are great its just let down by a decent story and funny lines! Potential is there but just needs more laffs per minute!

Well I thought it was a really touching way to end the show. Also, it was very funny in places! It's understandable that it's ending but I know I could have watched another series, Though we should think ourselves lucky they were even able to make the episodes they did, with how busy the main cast are and everything.
