The last episode was a good one. Still really enjoying this series.

Yes. Penelope was very funny in this episode.

Shes even been in Coronation Street...

She has won two Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role - one in 1984 for Stepping Out and the other in 2002 for Humble Boy at the Royal National Theatre. She was also nominated for another in 2001 for In Flame at the New Ambassadors Theatre.”

Those of us "of a certain age" might remember her as the manic nextdoor neighbour in middle-class suburban sitcom No Place Like Home on the Beeb in the mid 80s (see her upstaging lovely Wanda Ventham from 14mins in this episode). She was glorious as Esma Cannon in the BBC film Hattie (with Ruth Jones as Hattie Jacques) a couple of years back (see clips here, and she has a good swear too!).

Great to see Marcia Warren again.

The flashback scene was a lovely touch.

Young Freddie and Stuart didn't get a cast listing there, had them to a tee.

The flashback was rather well done, wasn't it.

They were credited at the beginning, it was Samuel Barnett as Stuart and Luke Treadaway as Freddie, great casting!

No place like home used to love that series.

I loved the flashback too.

It was beautifully crafted showing their early traits and attraction.
Beautiful young men too - especially Freddie.

It's stating the bleeding obvious I know, but it reminded me that old men like them were lithe and bright young things once. Was nice.

Checking out their Wiki profiles, they are a lot older than S&F would have been back then.

I thought that was a brilliant episode; the best of the lot. And the flashback was a great touch.

Those two are actors in their own right! They suited Freddie and Stuart perfectly!
If there is a third series - I hope they have further flashbacks like that!

There is a side-by-side picture of the old and young Freddies and Stuarts here. The heights don't really match ... but there are some facial similarities ...

I thought that Young Freddie was Harry Treadway and that they got his name wrong in the titles - was surprised when I realized that Harry had an identical twin brother.

Again, this was another so-so episode for me, but it's still a very pleasant half hour. Will miss it when this series ends. Hope ITV give it another series at least.

I do think they go overboard sometimes instead of just having lighthearted humour.

True. But for some reason, popular in the U.S.

Did anyone see McKellen and Jacobi at the Gay Pride parade in NYC?

I thought so too. I was quite moved by this episode actually, was anyone else? The flashback was genius, though Derek Jacobi himself was brilliant I thought, as was Francis de la Tour. They're all much better, rounded characters after this one.

I saw McKellen being interviewed on CNN, and saw Jacobi in the background (talking loud and drowning out the interview).

You know, I never knew that they were both gay in real life. I didn't even know Ian was. Plus Jacobi looks good to say he's in his 70s.
