Glad I'm not the only one totally confused as to whether it was supposed to be funny or serious. If the humour was intentional it felt odd being in the same episode as Maddie dying & the Nazirs grieving. If it was supposed to be serious, words fail me!! :-0

I don't mind admitting I have terrible double standards on this. Some bad acting really annoys but then there's some truly atrocious acting i find enjoyable and very funny.

The Platts were brilliant, Gail's "did you have an accident?" was on a par with " he even took the flight socks". Most of the Platt lines were reminiscent of the humour of the John Stape storyline, but I also really like Mary and Julie's slanging match, especially 'I'm his common law wife, no your not your just common!!' I was howling at that, even more so at Dev's 'shut up' squeaked out like an exasperated mouse

Don't know about anyone else but the Michael, Gavin/Andy and Platts scenes had us in stitches!

My mum, who very rarely watches Corrie, was asking if this was one of Corrie's 'humorous' storylines as it reminded her of a sitcom which started me and MrL off giggling, by the time Michael stormed out we were rolling about laughing

The booze we'd sank with family visitors earlier might have been responsible though

Yes I found parts of it hilarious. Brilliant episodes. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed Corrie so much.

I think it was deliberately meant to be black comedy or black humour and as such it was brilliantly written. Michael came out with some superb sarcastic one liners.

It was well written if it was supposed to be funny, but somehow i cant imagine the producers asking the gail actress to exagerrate her already wobby, bobbing head for comiedic effect! Nor can i imagine them asking micheal to be even more drippy that usual!

I found it funny and couldnt stop laughing

True, it wasn't all good. The Platt family scenes highlight for me just how bad Mary is, the pathetic attempts at humour with the character are so forced and unnatural but the NotGavin reveal scene was brilliant.

Viewers would be on the edge of their seats as the deep character introspective of Andy's inner psyche slowly unravelled. Somehow it just didn't quite turn out that way ”

This.

I think it was meant to be serious but the acting and script became unintentionally hilarious.

The whole build-up to this reveal has been taken quite seriously, I think and although at times it was laughable, the whole premise was not to reveal the truth to Michael because...........altogether now.............it would kill him. That is quite serious really and we all feel cheated because it didn't

I think the problem is, when the truth came out, the whole plot as revealed to Michael last night, was shown up to be the farce that it was and just became a huge joke.

Well, I was laughing anyway.

I hated the Mary-Dev stuff, but the Platt stuff was amusing and I thought Leanne's scenes with the Nazirs were very good.

You might have thought they'd have put their heads together and come up with a cover story. Like the plastic surgery idea. Then Michael might not have been sure whether to believe them, and they could have built a storyline from there.

I agree. It was clearly supposed to be funny. The one liners from Bethany and the ridiculous excuses from Andy along with the faces Gail pulled made that obvious. Brilliant stuff .

The "Did you have an accident?" was one of the best Corrie lines in ages.
I kept thinking "Tell him you've had facial reconstructive surgery"!!!
And when Gail was trying to convince Micheal that David looks completely different from when he was a kid, the photo she shows Micheal and he says "David looks exactly the same!"
I guess the only problem was Micheal met real Gavin so there was no real way to go down the plastic surgery route!

I was thinking she should've shown him a photo of Nick .

That would've been brilliant!!!! But which one? Gail - "Look, Nick changed his appearance TWICE, and we didn't mind!!!"

One thing wasn't clear : did Michael realise that he'd recently met his son (twice at least, I think) and didn't like him?

I was howling at that bit. Brilliant stuff from the Platt's, yet again

I also liked Bethany casually saying to Andy "text me" as she left
