These girls can make their own choices though; they're adults. They don't need protecting in this sense. It can be argued that the guys are marking their territory or having sex when threatened by new arrivals too. Or both genders are simply having sex because they want to and they enjoy it. A woman doesn't always have sex because of some ulterior motive or to manipulate a situation, strangely enough.

I do agree that Zara acted out of character and probably had sex so as not to 'lose' to Olivia again. But it was her own choice, it wasn't like she was blind drunk and plenty of 20 year olds will make choices they may regret in the future. Also plenty of people have one night stands with complete strangers. Maybe TV does normalise it but this can be a good thing too; if you create an environment where sex is openly talked about then harmful situations can be reported as young people know what is normal and what is not. It's scary the amount of young people that don't fully understand consent.

Obviously I don't want to hold Love Island up as some beacon of modern morality though. I'd have more of an issue of its focus on physical looks but I take it for what it is; trashy but easy TV to watch.
