Keen-eyed viewers may note that the ISLANDUHS have, presumably on limited occasions, been able to send texts to each other. When one bloke was sent outside on a date/meetup he could send texts back to the villa...the camera shot caught the previous messages including one that said 'What time do we do our media'?
I don't think it's scripted per se in terms of dialogue although the producers gladly use boredom and the Stockholm Syndrome to manipulate them.
But I do think there is much more stage-managing going on, possibly of the 'you two go to that bench and talk now' variety.
And, of course, we know that an ISLANDUH might be in the middle of a joke, a conversation, a challenge/game, or a row and be pulled into the LI diary room to offer commentary or (more often) answer questions from off-camera.
