18 Dec until 2nd Jan
I haven't been keeping up to date with the news lately, I would've thought thursday would be the start.

IGN say Dec 18

Gamerant say Dec 22nd.

I really don't get how any of these journos can be so unethical! : rolleyes:

I was hoping it starts this evening. Ubisoft have already started their sale. Some of the older Assassins Creeds and Far Cries are worth a look.

I have AC1 DRM free. I'm sure you can pick up a physical copy for a couple of quid.

Isnt there a new system now whereby games to not get cheaper because of the refund system? So now games should be the same price throughout

No idea to be honest, it would make sense for Valve to cut down on the number of receipts it receives, but it would harm sales if the games were at the same price throughout because some devs won't want to have a deep discount on their games for the entire duration of the sale. It would be a great shame.

They will probably have the same discount but, like in the past, games are only reduced for 24 hours and then switch back to normal and then on a cycle so that still encourages impulse buys as the sale for that game finishes at midnight but it will probably go on sale again 3 days later

Is Elite: Dangerous worth buying when this new expansion is out?

The Dailies are now 'highlighted deals' and last until the end of the sale. Kind of a bummer. Some of the games still have the deep discounts like Shadow Warrior and Wolfenstein which is good to see, I feared having 1 discount throughout would reduce the size of the discount.

Not as interested in sales nowadays as now sales are all year round on key websites and so I have most games i want as i bought them on release. I have bought dying light and game of thrones series last night but I cant see myself buying too much more but ill keep checking.

So just so I understand correctly, all of the games already are on their maximum discount?

Pretty stupid. One of the things that kept me coming back was the vote every 8 hours and because of the deals being time limited, so I'd end up spending way more than I should. But since they're already on maximum discount, it means that people are significantly less likely to impulse buy.

Oh well!

Could well be a DDoS attack. Some group was saying they were going to target Steam today in the same way that PSN abnd Xbox Live got targeted last Christmas day. PSN has been experiencing difficulties again today and Steam has had problems since about 3pm.

Steam DB (independent of Valve/Steam) are advising people to stay off community pages and store pages right now but they think it's nothing to do with any potentail DDoS. Whether that's right or not, it's actually possible to view other people's account balances, purcahse history and email addresses etc. if you visit them and other people can see yours too. Don't know if you can see more/do any real damage but things don't exactly look safe.

Looking like a very good guess now: http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/05/...-your-wallets/

That's the thingy they send out to publishers to get their prices for the sale.

Doubt i'll buy much, if anything. I still haven't played through the majority of the games I bought in the last sale. As soon as I open Steam all I see is Rocket League. It's an addiction
