sales aren't as big now due to scrapping the daily megadeals. Still it is a steam sale so I'm sure I'll pick up a few bits!

The more games you own on Steam the less impact a Sale starts to have but I've still got over 50 games on my wishlist so I reckon I will get something... isn't it more about the cards & badges these days??

despite being a veteran of several years of Steam sales I do not have a clue what to do with the cards and badges. Just in it for the cheap sales, and the chance to move games from my wishlist to the 'never played' section of my library

Ditto I've been on Steam for years and am level 10 (whatever that means) and have a small collection of cards & badges. Sometimes they appear and then bu88er off after the Sale.
Apparently people are supposed to 'craft' things with them and make money . I read the blurb but don't get it at all

Level 10 means you can edit your Profile

You craft badges from cards. Badges give you additional space for 'friends', emoticons and discount coupons

The larger your Steam lvl, the greater the rate you will be given free card packs for you to sell/craft.

The best thing to do with sale cards is to craft one lvl, as a kind of digital 'i woz ere' type thing, and then sell the rest.

I just checked and I'm also level 10. Apparently I have 100 gems. There is an option to put the gems into a sack so I tried that (well, why not?) but it turns out that I don't have enough gems to be able to put them into a sack.

What are gems, why might I want to put them into a sack, and why does a sack have a lower limit on its gem capacity?

More broadly, what the bloody hell is going on?

I think it must be a young people thing. Young people are all deranged; it's probably a side-effect of all the social medias and chemsex.

(I turned 40 over the weekend, so I'm allowed to be a confused and grumpy old sod)

I had a pre sale splurge on DC Keys, Just Cause 3 £15.99, Assassins Creed Syndicate £10.99, Shadows of Mordor GOTY £3.99 and Mad Max £5.99

On steam picked up Project Cars, Atilla Total War, South Park Stick of Truth, Company of Heroes 2, Skyrim (+DLC) and the Witcher + Season Pass and Assassins Creed Unity plus a Steam Controller.

Still waiting on GTA V, Fall Out 4, American Truck Simulator and maybe Blood Bowl 2, waiting to see if prices drop more.

They won't. What the discount is now is what it will remain throughout the sale.

Is anyone having issues with items disappearing and not appearing in the inventory?

Mine is a total error feast.

If you still haven't played it, you need to buy Rocket League ASAP. My game of the generation.

Haven't bought (or spent!) much so far..........

Orcs Must Die!
Toy Soldiers
Zuma's Revenge

Not sure whether or not to buy Project CARS. The price is good, and I really do like the look of the gameplay, but I don't know if my PC will run it all that well.

Bought Six Sides of the World for 9p just because of the price. That's it so far, although I haven't had a proper in-depth look yet.

Bought Atari Vault and asked for a refund after half-an-hour. Not fun.

Picked up Leo's Fortune cheap and I really recommend it

You have a 2 hour window in which you can refund a game so it is worth trying and testing the performance.

In fact, I might do that myself

This is the first year I've had Steam and experienced the Summer Sales, so far there's not been much that has really taken my fancy.

That said, I did see the entire Deus Ex collection the other day for £5 something but didn't buy it (good deal, but would probably just sit in my library). Skyrim is (or was last night) £4.99 - I would have bought this if it wasn't for the upgraded version being released shortly.

I did buy Sacred 2: Fallen Angel though (£2.74). It's definitely one of my all-time favourite games on PS3, so it would be rude not to buy it on PC for that price. The first Sacred is only 89p as well, so I'll probably pick that at some point.
