I hate it when people call it a family programme - it's no really though is it. The most family it gets is maybe watching it with you teen / pre teen kids who really shouldn't have homophobia encouraged to them

You made a very good point
Social media folk are weird. I use twitter/Facebook but during the yes campaign in Ireland it was the same crap like this. People hiding behind keyboards are pathetic

It's 2015 for goodness sakes. I think EastEnders should be praised for showing that scene last night. I thought the scene was well written and acted.”
Upsetting? I couldn't give a toss what these people think, I just ignore them. I don't waste my time on anyone who is obviously a bigot. These people's are completely narrow minded and you shouldn't allow them upset you, or letting them see that they had,
The first gay kiss on Eastenders was nearly 30 years ago, these viewers should not be surprised to see two men kissing on the soap.
Sad people that are best ignored. Their comments reveal far more about their own character than anything else. As somebody noted in the other thread, only somebody who was uncomfortable with their own sexuality would feel the need to make derogatory comments about gay people.

Exactly.
I love how these idiots make such a big deal about it. "Oh god, how will I explain this to my children???". Children really don't care if two men or two women love each other. They are taught to hate by their ignorant parents.
its about 2% of negative comments. its just people focus alot on the negative as it riles them up,
these people are morons, of the highest order. thick, gutter slime. let them revel in their own ignorance.

But the production team can highlight these comments, so then other people will see and retweet/make comments thus promoting Eastenders in the process.
I've said it before that one of the reasons I like the Ben sexuality storyline is that it raises awareness because homophobia is still( clearly) evident in our society...

I don't think that's always the case though. A young lad not even in his teenage years told me he thinks gays are 'not normal'. Bear in mind that he never sees his dad and his mum loves anyone and everyone. I think kids are quite capable of forming their own opinions without any parent influencing their thought process.
