I think this scene is just brilliant!

I know others will disagree, but I found 2013 Corrie's strongest year in ages. It was head & shoulders above EastEnders and on top form IMO. Hayley's storyline was a touching story, which ended a great year for the show.

I think that was my favourite scene from the whole storyline. I remember it was on the same episode as Lily's christening & the Emmerdale siege. Both shows were on top form and I really enjoyed this moment between Roy & Hayley.

Anyone else love this?.

Roy & Hayley were an amazing couple and this was a beautiful scene.

The scene where Jack Duckworth was slipping away into death and he had a chat and a little dance with the ghostly version of his little swamp duck Vera had me in tears.
Amazing stuff.

God I miss Jack and Vera. As I grew up watching them, to me, they were the epitome of Corrie!

I couldn't agree more. It suited the characters so well, and if ever Corrie did a top 50 moments again or something like that, I think that scene should definitely make it to the top 50.

There seems to be no happy medium in Coronation Street. We had the wonderful Hayley story, even earlier the Jack Duckworth death scene, and any scenes that Blanche was in. All brilliant. Then we had the sour-faced girl having a baby, the coach crash, the Platt family stories and the flat fire. All very poor.. Coronation Street is certainly not the best it has been in 54 years.

Not for me - Coronation Street was better in 2010-2011

Once up on a time..Corrie was about people with just plain ordinary every day lives and people could associate with it...there was no high drama just people living a normal life and that's what we enjoyed.. sharing the joy's and sadness happiness and tears....but we expect more of soaps these day's...we don't enjoy them as much.. and then we wonder why.......it's the simple things like Roy and Hayley in Blackpool that we remember and enjoyed because it's something we can all relate to..

I remember being doubtful when I heard that Vera was going to come back as a "ghost" but in the end, it was a fabulous scene and had me in floods of tears.

I really enjoyed 2010. However, 2011 I have to disagree. It was pretty much 90% doom & gloom and far too sensational for Corrie, IMO. Some good storylines, but a lot of the light scenes disappeared if I remember rightly. I stopped watching, then started again around Becky's exit and Carla's storyline.

One of the reasons I enjoyed 2013 so much though was because I found they had so many strong storylines going on, one starting after the other. The lighter scenes were present again, and the show was WAY better than EastEnders. It's all gone downhill since Hayley died unfortunately, and it only really has the occasional bright spot now, but I've noticed an improvement lately. I just hope it continues.

Honestly that was the last really good episode of Corrie I can remember. I loved how the drama at the christening was interspersed with Roy and Hayley at Blackpool.

Shame it went downhill from there.

Yes it was better than EE at that point, I hope the shows returns to those levels soon

Well, with their upcoming LIVE episode, we should see some improvement.

Don't forget in 2013 we had a stronger cast. We had Sunita, Kirsty, Hayley, Deirdre, Peter, Tina, the Prices & many more. They've all been a big loss IMO. The storylines were a lot stronger then, such as Kirsty/Tyrone, Karl & the Rovers fire, Hayley's cancer, etc... But I think Corrie's been a lot better these past few months, so hopefully it will go up from here. .

I've seen that scene so many times, the last only a few weeks ago, and even now it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

As for the scene the OP highlights, certainly as another said, a Top 50 contender but there are so many over the years.

I agree, it was beautiful and perfect in every way.

The only other scene that effected me in the same way was when Hilda had Stans belongings from the hospital when he had died and Hilda undid the string, unwrapped the brown paper and there were stans glasses case. She opened the case and just broke down and cried into them. That scene still moves me now. It would have been so easy to have over egged the scene but Jean Alexander played it to perfection. When CS get it right they are simply the very best.
