It happens in real life that children search for their biological parents and end up frustrated and disappointed because they thought their newfound parent would be an instant soul mate, but it turns out they are just a stranger with good intentions, and that's not enough. Such a development would have given both Finn and Emma a decent storyline.
But instead, they gave Finn the useless Darren S/L, and made Emma a one-dimensional villain obsessed with a man she hadn't seen in 20 years. Also, the subplot of her suffocating Ross as a baby was strange. If she really had postnatal depression, it was handled extremely insensitively, and if she just made it up as an excuse, it lead to nothing.”

I really enjoyed the Emma story at the start. Loved Finn finding her, and getting Ross to meet her. Loved it up to the point where the crates fell on James and she nearly walked away and left him to die, which was both delicious and pretty believable given what he'd done to her.
But then the wheels completely fell off. The Ross/PND stuff went nowhere, and totally rewrote their backstory. It's bollocks now, and I'm not sure what they can do to rescue it. Even worse, it's boring.
