Corrie needs these returnees
1. Cilla - with her new sugar daddy Reg Holdsworth. I am laughing at the antics this pair would get up to, it would be like Jack and Vera, but heightened. Could be a lot of fun as she gets more controlling as he sneaks out more. Hes come into money and they enjoy lording it up over everyone.
2. Mavis - Mavis was a classic character and a short stint to catchup with Rita - and lay low for a bit as she has a secret - would not go amiss. 3 - Katy Harris - returns from witness protection in a shock new storyline, and she hooks up with Martin again. |

Cilla yes, and not that wimpy version that returned last year for about three episodes.
No idea who the second one is. Katy might have a problem returning what with the slight issue of being dead.... |

Katy Harris is dead.
And no thanks to Cilla. She was ruined in the return last year. Totally different character to the Cilla I remember. |

Bringing old characters back is the last thing Corrie needs at present. It begins and ends with the writing - and that is something that has clearly dropped off over the last few years! Quote:

The only return that I'd love to see is Becky. The dream would be a shock return in the live episode.

Sorry OP but you've somehow managed to pick 3 of my least favourite characters ever, particularly Reg & Mavis!! Cilla, slightly less so but her & Les had started to grate by the time they left!! Katy was a good character, as were all the Harris clan, but I am NOT in favour of soaps resurrecting dead characters & Katy very definitely died, rather horribly, in front of our eyes!!
Generally I'm not in favour of bringing characters back, though Jenny has been inspired, as she was a great character who had so much more story to tell!! The only others I would really welcome back are Toyah (as I've said many times) and Marcus, a real, genuine, non stereotypical gay man, who should never have left in the first place imo!! |

No to all of them apart from maybe Mavis who could come for a week or so but nothing permanent.
Why would Katy return?! she has no reason too. There is nothing worse than characters coming back from the dead...so unrealistic. They did a witness protection storyline on H&A which was so unbelievable. Reg was a good character back in the day but he just wouldn't fit into Corrie now and Cilla's return was bad enough last year without bringing her back for a second time. Besides the cast is big enough as it is and there have been enough returnees in the last few years to sink a ship. |

If they did bring anyone back from the dead, I would love it to be John Stape, the accidental murderer.

A rather silly person, she married Derek rather late in life and their life revolved around Bobby their budgie and their garden gnome. After Derek died she left and went to live in the lake district. There is so much I could tell you about her, but I will say that it was because of Mavis and Derek that we ended up with Norris, who by the way insisted on calling Derek, Dirk. These were the good old days in Coronation Street, when there was always a laugh to be had. Anyone else got memories of Mavis they want to share? |

I hope there are no more soap returns now. I would rather see more new characters, instead of soaps bringing back old ones. There have been a lot of soap returns over the past few years. There is no need for anymore.

There's only two returns that the show needs right now. The first is Janice Battersby.
The second is good writing. |

Please not Janice Battersby. Dreadful character, weak actress. Shout, shout, eat with mouth wide open whilst shouting...
It would be lovely to have Mavis come to visit Rita for a while, and I agree that the good quality writing should come back permanently. |

It would be weird having a scene between Mavis and Micheal....he might start talking like her.

Has everyone forgotten Hilda Ogden? The actress was a revelation in LOTSW, proved she could do comedy.

The only plausible one there is Cilla. Now that she's back on the scene, I wouldn't mind the odd visit from her, provided they had a purpose.
Reg and Mavis were brilliant in their day but Reg wouldn't fit in now and Thelma Barlow doesn't want to return as she thinks the show has lost its way since she left. Katy Harris? Why would you resurrect such a random character from the dead? She wasn't anything special and her family are long gone. After Bethany, Sarah and Jenny, we've had our fill of returns for a while IMO. |

I am feeling very old after reading that someone doesn't remember Mavis.

These were the good old days in Coronation Street, when there was always a laugh to be had. Anyone else got memories of Mavis they want to share? There was a programme recently showing clips of Mavis and Rita with the two actresses watching the clips together. It brought back loads of great memories. I used to love her and Derek. There was a lot of comedy with them, with Mavis and Rita, and Mavis and Emily. I think back then, the Street didn't have to rely on shock value storylines, the characters were so much stronger, in general. |
