No I haven't forgotten Hilda!! She was WONDERFUL in her day, but what would be the point in bringing her back now?? Suppose she could pay a brief visit to see Kev & Sally, her only real links to the current Street but with them now separated even that would be a pretty pointless indulgence!!

There's no point bringing back Hilda without Stan. After Stan's death Hilda was completely watered down, and lost everything that was great about the character.

Jean Alexander has refused to go back.
Quote:
“She told the Daily Express: 'It is more than 25 years since she [Hilda] left the Street and I have been asked a number of times to do an episode but she wouldn't be the "old scrubber" she was, now.
'Hilda had a bit of sense in her head; she would have adapted, smartened herself up and learned to speak better.
She added: 'People would want her to be the old Hilda. I couldn't do that.' ”

Ena Sharples - Len Fairclough and Elsie Tanner. Not sure if the actors have been approached!

She was Rita ' s friend and worked with her for many years. A rather silly person, she married Derek rather late in life and their life revolved around Bobby their budgie and their garden gnome. After Derek died she left and went to live in the lake district. There is so much I could tell you about her, but I will say that it was because of Mavis and Derek that we ended up with Norris, who by the way insisted on calling Derek, Dirk.
These were the good old days in Coronation Street, when there was always a laugh to be had.

Anyone else got memories of Mavis they want to share?”

Bobby was mini caldwells cat. The budgie was Harriet, Percy sugden had one called Romeo iirc

Bring back Martha Longhurst. It was a mistake killing her off, but I think Corrie can work a way round it with clever writing. She can return after spending 51 years in sunny Spain.

It would have to be pretty imaginative writing, considering we saw her die, saw her funeral and the actress died in 1990 (and the character would now be 119!)

A recast / CGI Martha returns to Coronation Street after half a century in witness protection to celebrate her 120th birthday in the place she grew up. Camera crews turn up to interview the oldest woman in Britain and the Rovers put on a lovely mouth watering spread.

I don't really see what Hilda would do if she returned to be honest. Best to leave her in the past.

Excellent. Make it happen Corrie! It has been so long ago they can simply recast the role.

Bring back Curly Watts. Underworld can finally shut down when Carla departs, and a Fresco store can be put in its place with Curly as manager.

The good actors and actresses who have moved on won't want to return while we've got the present crop of writers and especially the present producer

Curly is one of those characters who just belongs in Coronation Street, and in my book is welcome back any time. The only proviso is that he's single again - Curly was great as the loveable loser and didn't work at all as the family man with the policewoman wife and son. He became too normal.

It could happen - Kevin Kennedy was only axed because the writers realised they'd screwed up his character and decided to cut their losses. Kieran Roberts was extremely reluctant to let him go and hoped he'd be brought back at some future time.

The factory's a bit on the small side for a Freshco though - I'd rather they did what they did before a film on location.

Only on the outside. That's never a problem in Corrie : look at the bistro and eileen and gail's houses.

Terry Duckworth should return and open up his club. I know it is unlikely as Nigel Pivaro is a journalist, but still would be nice for him to return, maybe alongside his third son Brad (who should be around 18 now).
