Dear God, no. I would rather gouge out my own eyes with a rusty spoon than watch either of them gurning again.

Most of the "current crop" of writers have been there for more than ten years, as any cursory glance at the credits will confirm.

CS writers need to bite the bullet!

Make a major cull of existing characters - as regular fans/viewers we can all list the deadwood out of their sell by dates.

Bring new families and couples that reflect more the diversity of modern society.

Perhaps;
A Yuppie couple investing in the property market.
A single Professional woman - Solicitor, Senior Administrator,
A single parent family with teenage children
A Lesbian couple.

More workbased scenarios - get away from the actual Street backdrop and the Rovers as the only hub for evening discussions.

Also less emphasis on alcohol consumption, getting bladdered is not the only way to enjoy an evening out.

Easenders are trying to boost existing characters by creating long lost siblings or children from secret affairs.

Lets hope CS doest not go down that route. Imagine Sean's long lost brother turning up or Andrea is one of triplets.

Stop rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic - Start steering the ship away from the icebergs.

They should bring Bet back. I know she probably isnt up for the schedule, but I think if they brought her back for a short stint to possibly kill her off, it would be a nice end for that character

Hopefully there will be lots of returnees for Deirdre's funeral

I think I've only seen Bev mentioned so far.

Bev and Peter have been confirmed as the only returnees for Deirdre's funeral I believe.

Oh yes, Peter. I did read that.
Not a favourite character but only right, I suppose.

Since Auntie Pam now lives only five minutes away, it would be nice to see her back. Err .. is Bill there as well?

Her and Bill must be separated as he is living in Germany.

I do remember her, but whose Auntie is she? I forget that.
I know Bill is Kevin and Debbie's dad.

I think it'd be good to bring back Martin Platt, given all the Drama that's been going on with the Platts its hard to believe he wouldn't check in on them once in a while. I also think Steve's ex wife Karen would be an interesting one to bring back, I've only seen a handful of clips of her but what I've seen I really like and with Carla going she could come back and be the new thorn in Tracy's side also what about Phelean? He needs to return for Anna

Sean Wilson is now a chef with his own restaurant. Suranne Jones has other work (didn't like her). Phelan was horrible. Anna didn't like him and he has a wife.

2. Mavis - Mavis was a classic character and a short stint to catchup with Rita - and lay low for a bit as she has a secret - would not go amiss.

3 - Katy Harris - returns from witness protection in a shock new storyline, and she hooks up with Martin again.”

Thelma Barlow is now 86 there is no way Mavis will return.

She keeps busy with one of appearances in TV shows and is 2 years younger than Dot Cotton / Branning

I'm sure she could manage a week or 2

I was only joking about Phelan, as for Martin, they should consider recasting him. He's been off the show for years so I think a recast would be fine.

I doubt Martin will ever return, even with a recast. They have obviously considered the character in the past and done with and haven't properly mentioned him in years or his current status.

This returning business is stupid, just focus on what they have, the past is the past now.
