When it comes to emotional intelligence though, I think he's at the level of a child. He has no long-term appreciation of how his actions will effect his future. Either he wants a corporate career based on his chemistry degree or he wants a showbiz career (and it was the later that Russell Grant suspected after doing his astrology chart)... either way his behaviour is all about short-term gratification. Would YOU want to work with, or manage Marc - I certainly would not after what I've seen on BB.

He reminds me a lot of Benedict and Caroline (she of the mad hair) in that they both thought they were clever enough to take on BB and use them to further their media career... and BB spat them both out and sent them back to their life when the show was over.

He disgusts me, the only other emotion I have for him is pity.”

I think you've hit several nails on the head as to why some people find Marc unintelligent. Mostly it's because they, personally, find him distasteful.

He is a doctor, Dr Mark O Neill did his PHD with my nephew. He is playing a role in the house and is a very clever guy. very high IQ and very clever with people. Do I like him ahmm no.

IIRC he finishes his studies in September, at which point he'll be a 'doctor', then he's off to work in the States.

You've got to look past the surface.
He isn't an idiot, watch how he knows exactly when to hold back and be quiet.
He has the ability to calculate the room and adjust his behaviour accordingly.

Look at how the original housemates make allowances for him. That isn't an accident.

But he isn't taking on BB, he's embracing the position he's in, not railing against it.
It's the other housemates he's taking on, and apparently succeeding.

I think that Joel and Nick are as, if not more, intelligent.

He's not an idiot, but I disagree about the rest. I'd say he doesn't know exactly when to hold back and be quiet, and that his ability to "calculate" the room is poor. If the original HMs make allowances for him, it's because they're fools, not because he's especially smart or perceptive.

Which is one of the things that makes him despicable.

What can they do, if BB won't rein him in?

Yes but the question is whether he's currently the most intelligent housemate.

He seems to be doing what's required, and whatever he's doing seems to be working for him.

I think you're being a little naive if you think that anyone who goes in that house isn't taking on BB.... after all, you have no control over how you are edited.

I'm afraid they're way behind, floundering around in Mark's slipstream.

Totally agree. He is playing the game like it should be played

No I'm not being naive at all. I've seen most series of BB and any housemate that tries to take on BB loses. They just do. Whether that be from the edit, or BB making their life in their shit, taking on BB is not a great idea.

I'm not saying he SHOULD play the game like that, I'm just saying that it seems to be working for him.
