I had some Tesco ones last week, they was awful. I normally either have Sainsburys Taste the difference ones or M and S one if I can not be bothered to walk to Sainsburys.

Which ones do other people like and do not say home made? I know home made are better.

They are fatty, but if you get the right ones they are not rubbery. Tescos was i must admit, awful things.

I have to pop down Sainsburys later for work business so I will get a pack of their own. TTD ones, they are really nice, with some decent butter.

I do like crumpets. If I have them I tend to have them on a Sunday evening for my tea. I love them with marmite and cheese on, warburtons are best

Warburtons for me too. Marmite on crumpets is 'the business' but I'm also partial to just a little peanut butter and sliced banana.

Peanut butter AND Marmite. It looks disgusting but is heavenly (although not exactly health food).

Like crumpets but they must be thin and very very very well done. With marmite or my own quince jelly

There is no fat in a crumpet. Not one bit.

I know this because I regularly make them and half the women in my office are on diets wherein crumpets are eaten a lot. A very lot. I think it is Slimming World which advocates the consumption of crumpets as a good way to fill up without taking on any fat.
Mind, I don't think they let you slather them in butter or cheese, which is how I usually consume them.

It's got to be a nice, thin Scots crumpet, preferably a fruit one. I don't like the thick, rubbery English style crumpets at all.

You are kind of right, you don't use fat apart from milk and there is fat in milk. It is the butter that makes them greasy. I suppose I could put Vitalite on them.

What recipe were you using???

No fat in crumpets apart from what you put in the pan to fry them.

Crumpets used to be my favourite breakfast. Only Warburtons with either poached eggs or marmite and they had to be cremated! I can't eat them any longer. For some reason I feel instantly nauseous and bleurg for hours afterwards.

i realised when someone else posted there was not fat in them. I have not made them for years, so I forgot what I put in them. Not my recipe, but the hotels, and yes the only fat is milk based and what you use to fry them. Not that we used to use fat in the hotel,. they went onto the griddle..

Not a crumpet fan. I much prefer a pikelet ....very similar but thinner. Marks & Sparks used to sell them, not sure if they still do.

Ohhhhh.....found this firm where you can buy many different types of pyclet....as they spell it
