There's a 44. magnum near sanctuary, it's near a generator that's on the same side as the red rocket garage, it's a really powerful gun.

Directons, cross the bridge out of sanctuary and turn left and follow the river unti you come to a generator with a large pipe coming out of it, follow the pipe and you'll come across a dead guy with the gun beside him.

Scratch what I said. I thought I'd gone too far to continue with the minute men and the way of continuing the main quest wasn't obvious. Turns out I just had to talk to Preston, even though there was no quest or marker telling me to!

Also noticed, it's a cool little touch that when your pip boy date is Christmas day, you can see a Christmas tree and lights in diamond city!

I went into the witchcraft museum earlier and got totally destroyed.
Spoiler

Has anyone seen any vendors selling mini nukes as I have run out?

I stole a mini nuke from goodneighbour Stealth boys are good if you want to steal stuff, but make sure you save beforehand, in case something goes wrong.

Also suicide mutants have them if you kill them before they detonate. You can actually shoot them in the arm with the nuke and they will detonate immediately which is quite funny, but you can't get the nuke then, obviously.

If you're low level though, even the fat man won't save you. I fought a deathclaw quite a bit back and the nuke didn't even kill it , it did like 85% of its health though, so it was easy enough to finish.

It'll be your level, most likely.

Spoiler

I presume your level raises a load of invisible stats too? I honestly don't know. I'm level 38 and the game is so much easier now, and I can't imagine it's just because I've got a few more perks. I mean I've added nothing to my survivability the whole game and yet I can soak up hits no problem now.

I started again. My melee build became too annoying to play. Now I've gone stealthy sniper with silenced shotgun and it's much better.

Confession: I used the dupe glitch to help me with adhesive so I could upgrade my weapons. I won't use it for anything else. Adhesive is far too scarce.

That's the one that's really been a pain in the arse for me too!

^^ There's a video on Youtube about the Adhesive, you get it from one of the foods you can make.

I got disintegrated in one shot by an Assaultron

I'm such a coward in this game but for good reason. Walking along minding my own business I stumbled across a Super Mutant base, after killing about 5 of them plus a legendary one another gang of mutants appeared and as I backed up a little I seen the writing "Legendary Deathclaw" appear from behind a car. That was it I ran off leaving them to fight among themselves.

I'm also weary of going in the water after Piper commented that the water in the quarry was probably full of Mirelurks and some kid told me a giant eye keeps popping out the water at the docks.

Can find it in the Utility section at the cooking station.
3 x Corn, Mutrfuit & Tato + 1 purified water = (name?) broken down for 5 adhesive.

I'm finding the cooking station & chem station quite useful.
Cooking mutant hound meat eases the strain on the rare RadAway, -50 rads. As does Refreshing Beverage (I highly recommend making a few of these) +500 health -1000 rads. Needed one after my encounter with a Putrid Glowing One.
Bufftats, +3 STR +3 END lasts 8 mins. Good when you are over-encumbered and need to get back home.

Acquiring my first set of T-51b PA from the National Guard, I exited the building feeling proud of myself only to be greeted with a killer Sentry Bot which promptly despatched me in a few hits. Even wearing the PA. Got annoyed and decided this was a time for me to break immersion as a sniper and bust out the Spray & Pray. "Say hello to my little friend."

Finally made my way over to BDFTL (name???) after getting a mini-quest about 5 hours in (I'm now nearly 75). Heard some gunfire so decided to investigate. 2 raiders, one normal and one legendary had managed to take out a Deathclaw. Normal raider dead and legendary raider was at 2/3 health. Shot him in the back and took his stuff.

Still not come across a Deathclaw to fight other than the scripted encounter at Concord.
Still not had an attack at any settlement.

Mod to replace the dialogue wheel with what you are actually going to say. Essential imo.

Yes, I made some of that, will have to remember that as it's probably the easiest way to get it.

Well, I finished this yesterday. Story was fun but not quite as good as 3. As with 3, I expect it'll be the dlc that is most epic.

Were some excellent and funny side missions though and still plenty of them to do. All the liittle touches and details in this game are brilliant.

I got a spray and pray which is suiting my play style a lot but the vendors Never seem to have .45 bullets well not a lot for a machine gun. Anyone know where I can source them ?

I tend to buy copious amounts of ammo regardless of what style I'm playing. The only ammo I sell is .38 cos it's crap.
I have the Spray & Pray as a back up so do look for .45 ammo.
I go to the two shops in Diamond City. The Spaniard/Mexican and the one next door with the woman and robot. Cricket can usually be found outside Diamond and she has some as well.
Almost all the Gunners I've encountered seem to carry combat rifles which also take .45

Good article, I agree with most of it. Across fansites I'm seeing a lot of Bethesda fans making excuses for Fallout 4's failings, usually by saying things like "it's not about the graphics", "Bethesda games are always buggy, so what", "Witcher 3 is about the story, you can't compare them" etc.

But that author was right to compare them. I must admit to being quite disappointed that Bethesda hadn't bothered with a brand new game engine for the next generation. The awkward animations, ugly character models, etc. Not to mention the poor writing and voice acting.

And yet it's still so addicting.

Is it worth going to diamond city early on? I'm only level 10, don't want to be running into deathclaws yet!

It’s a little one sided as Witcher 3 certainly isn't completely without fault, but it does show how much Bethesda need to step up their game.

I’m 20 hours into fallout 3 now and I do like it very much. It does so much right, but at the same time it does so much wrong. So few people make games like fallout and skyrim so a lot of the problems get excused, yet they are the same problems game after game. Each time they largely get fixed by very popular mods so it’s not like Bethesda does not know what people want. I think they take their fanbase for granted an awful lot.

I would go to diamond d city as I am now lvl 20 and the enemies to the east and west are quite hard. I would also go to goodneighbour. I knocked the minuteen on the head. And the brotherhood.

Random encounters with Deathclaws = 0

It's not that difficult getting to Diamond City. I went there at lvl 8.

I'd keep with the Minutemen until you activate Radio Freedom then at least you'll get radiant quests. I haven't advanced the story with either the Minutemen or Brotherhood. I just use them for the radiants for XP.

Ok, one building material I'm out of now is wood. Had loads at the start from reclaiming trees, but they don't come back. Does anyone know another good source of it?

How much exploring/questing had everyone done before diamond city? I rushed there looking for that rad cure doctor so my map is looking pretty bare in the space between Lexington and diamond city. Infact if I center Lexington at the top of the map there's only 8 icons on the whole screen.

I don't think I've done any of the faction quests either. I do have Piper, Valentine and Cait now though. Although I sent Valentine to Sanctuary and he seems to have disappeared with what I'm sure is an inventory full of my stuff. I also can't find dogmeat after using him to track down Kellogg.

Guess I'll go and explore the parts I ran straight through in my desperation to get rid of the rad

Don't know how I managed it but I have about 4000 wood & steel.
I do just pick up everything though and then dump it at a workbench.

Your best bet would be to link your settlements. That way they share resources.
(task a settler for supply line duty)

I only went in a straight line once. That was to find the Alien ship.
As I said above. After about 5 hours play I was on my way to BDFTL and only just arrived last night, 70 hours later. Too much too look at to focus on one thing.
