I was playing for a few hours last night and was just wandering through random buildings etc and came across a familiar face, the vault rep guy, he seemed so happy to see me and I said I'd meet him at sanctuary, after he left I went about my business for the next half an hour or so.

Once I left to go and do a quest I noticed this headless corpse with the same coat on as the vault rep. So i strolled over to see and to my horror it was him.

He'd been murdered, I've never felt so bad why would anyone be so heartless.

As the last person to speak to the departed we'd like to ask you a few questions.

He made it to Sanctuary fine for me. Set him up as a shopkeeper. I have to go through the same dialogue about him being so happy to be back, "Prepared for the future."

Hooo-eee! I've just 'investigated' the satellite dish array and been deaded several times. I finally decided that a long-range sniper attack might be the best approach and I picked off the supermutants one at a time with my night-vision sniper rifle. Any time they figured out where I was (I was by the big advertising hoarding) they would come storming after me, but I bu&&ered off quick and they lost track of me. It took ages but it paid off and I discovered a nice load of booty in one of the dishes.
Thank God I've done that now. I attempted it quite early on in the game and got my arse whipped.

Don't forget to fully explore the area as there is a nice toy hidden there if you don't already have one of them.

When I attacked that place one of the Supermutants had one of those nuke launchers. I'd have probably died instantly if I hadn't been wearing upgraded power armour at the time. Unfortunately, the hit took out my leg armour, which also took out the buff the armour was giving my carrying ability, so I could only move at a crawl. The next nuke killed me .

I should have realised it was now dangerous there when I passed the wreckage of two BoS aircraft on the way...

That was my second pass over that particular site, as me and Curie (who my character is now in love with - don't ask) had cleared it out a few days previous.

I'll nip back today and have another look around before the site is re-populated. So far I've found a power armour and a fat man in one of the dishes and a few other bits and bobs.

It sounds like you have found the main items in that area.

If you are on PC and want unlimited height building or unlimited bulding area.
Spawn a workbench anywhere that doesnt overlap an existing settlement build area.

Build as high as you can. Then spawn a workbench on the top floor. This will give you more height. Repeat. In theory, unlimited height. I managed 100 stories of ladders till I got bored
Beware,,can make your game unstable if you build way to much, so use a save you dont mind potentially losing.

I've been betrayed by my settlers!

I had 3 full suits of power-armour (which were all left with the power cores removed) parked in the Red Rocket workshop, where I've started a settlement.

I first noticed something was amiss when I went to fast-travel back to the RR and the power-armour icon wasn't on the map.

Got back there and there was a bit of a fight going on. Sorted it all out but a couple of my settlers got killed.
While I was looting their corpses (as you do) I noticed they had some pretty high-quality stuff.
And then, when I went to store that "new" stuff in my lock-up I found that ALL the good stuff was missing from my lock-up!

Went around trading with my remaining settlers and they ALL had various bits of my stuff - weapons, clothing and bits of power-armour.

I've got most of it back but none of the settlers are wearing a power-armour chassis and after scouting around the RR I can't find any sign of them.
I'm guessing that the RR was attacked and my settlers decided to arm themselves with all my stuff, including my unpowered power-armour suits and then got themselves obliterated.

Strange because the "common wisdom" is that you should always park power-armour with no power core in it to prevent somebody taking it for a joyride but it definitely looks like my settlers have been helping themselves to all my stuff, including my power-armour.
According to my stat's, my settlers have enough of everything and are 87% "happy" but I guess they're even happier when they're stealing my stuff.

Anybody know if it's possible to create any kind of secure-storage area?
I don't think it's possible to create a lockable door but perhaps it'd be possible to build some kind of lock-up and then use electrically powered stuff to protect it?

Which settlement? And were your things in your workbench or in a normal container?

All my stuff was in filing cabinets in the RR office.

Perhaps it's possible (I honestly don't know) that a Mutant Suicider got into the RR workshop and blew up all my power-armour?

All my filing cabinets (and all the other furniture and decorations I put up) at the RR were still intact, though, so it's not like a filing cabinet got destroyed and that left all it's contents lying around to be picked-up.

I'm not even sure if a Suicider explosion, or perhaps a grenade thrown by a Raider, can destroy furniture or dormant power-armour - or whether, assuming it IS possible, the contents of the cabinet would be destroyed as well or be left lying around for a settler to pick up.

Also, I suppose there's a slim chance that 3 suits of power-armour could go missing and settlers coincidentally turn up with components from similar armour AND weapons similar to the ones I had in my cabinets BUT I'd crafted some pretty unique weapons and renamed them and I found those weapons in the possession of my settlers.

The most straightforward explanation would surely seem to be that settlers can access your storage containers and take stuff.

Perhaps there's some kind of game mechanic that means once you're away for a certain length of time they act this way?

I had my first radiation storm, pretty spectacular

Explored through the Glowing Sea last night, one of the best locations in the series I think.


They're awesome. Although every time they happen I am reminded of the trailer with the deathclaw so i'm on high alert every time.

The radiation storms are usually little more than a nuisance but I've had one that, at it's peak, was doing 13 rad's of damage.
Fortunately, I'd just come out of some underground bunker location and I just went back inside it and waited for a couple of hours.

At the moment I'm really enjoying generic "hunt the ghouls" quests.
I realised I had a pair of unique 10mm pistols so I upgraded them both and fitted them with silencers, gave one to Cait and we cheerily creep through ghoul-infested locations getting head-shot kills on ghouls and then looting their bodies before they even notice us.

Another weapon related tip:-
Don't forget about .38 caliber weapons.
Once you've got enough perks you can create a .38 receiver for a lot of guns.
I got a unique combat rifle, fitted it a .38 receiver and with every other upgrade (including a silencer) and it makes for a very useful "back-up" gun to use when you're low on every other kind of ammo'.
I'm finding that it'll kill regular super-mutants with 3 or 4 head-shots, all of which can be done in a single VATS session.

Just recently I decided to take the the Aquaboy/girl perk and finding it pretty useful taking no rad damage when swimming.

I took that really early, forgot that you got rads from water tbh!

Is it SUPPOSED to be possible that you can annoy your followers enough that they turn hostile?
If so, what are you supposed to do about it?

I was travelling with Piper and we got mixed up in a fight between raiders and trade caravan guards.
I don't think I hit any of the guards but perhaps Piper did because they became hostile and so I had to finish them off as well.

I got a message saying "Piper really hates this" after killing a guard and, next thing I know, Piper is shooting at me too!

I have my own "rule" that I never reload a game just because something goes wrong so I tried to make the best of it but Piper wouldn't stop shooting me when I holstered my gun and when I fast-traveled she just carried on shooting at me when we arrived at our destination.
And, of course, she can't be killed so all that happens is that I put her "out for the count" then tried to run away but she warps back near to me, fast-travels with me and carries on trying to shoot me!

I know there are perks that increase the chances of calming a situation down but surely you're not SUPPOSED to just spend hours being relentlessly pursued around the game by a hostile companion in the hope of eventually managing to find a way to calm them down?

If it's intended to be possible for a follower to become hostile, are you just supposed to concede that you're in an no-win situation and reload your last save-game?
That seems like a rather "half-arsed" situation to put the player in.
Unless, of course, it's not supposed to happen and it was a glitch.

I've heard that sleeping for 24/48/72 hours can fix that problem.

If you give Strong a SuperSledge or other big melee weapon, he can hold his own, especially with mutant gear on. I use him quite often as I like his banter.

I got fed up of settlers, especially Marcy, sitting in my pad in Sanctuary so 'locked' it whenever I wasn't there. It has all my storage stuff in it as well, so reading what happened to you I am glad I took that precaution!
When I say locked I mean I blocked the door with a fence each time I left so they cant get in

It happened to me again last night.
I think Piper is just a psycho' in my game, or something is a bit broken.

I got to the really trippy bit at the Memory Den.
I had Piper with me because she's obsessed with The Institute and I thought she'd like to know what was going on.
After I completed it she gave me a load of dialogue about how wonderful she thinks I am and then we went back upstairs and I just got the "Piper really hates this" message and then she just went nuts and started shooting at Irma and Nick and then started shooting at EVERYBODY in Goodneighbor, including me.

I reloaded my game and it didn't happen the next time around but I'll try sleeping for a long time to see if that helps as well.

That's not a bad idea.

I'd probably get sick of having to add and remove a fence to get at all my "normal" stuff but I'm definitely going to build a little prefab and put all my Power Armor suits and parts in there to keep them safe.
I wonder if building a fence that can be jumped over would keep everybody else out?

Just after writing that post I visited the Automatoys factory and that's got a side-office that has a door fitted with a keycard lock.
It'd be nice if the game allowed the player to craft the same kind of lock to fit to their own doors.

It was one of the first perks I took. THen I got all the Rads restore your health perks and that helped a lot when I went through the Glowing Sea.

I'm just at that part now and I wondered if that perk would be useful.

I guess tonight's session is going to involve "grinding" through BOS Search & Destroy missions to level-up enough to aquire the "Ghoulish" (or whatever it's called) perks before venturing into the Glowing Sea.

Where can I find Piper? I have never used her so she should be in her original spot I just forgot.
