Did you say your settler was Piper? Or just a random? I wonder if the settlement's happiness was affected by your direct relationship with her? Had you worked on that relationship?
Yeah, that was her name. I had only done the first mission of her's and had her as my companion from doing that because I never really knew what I was doing at the time & sent Dogmeat back to Sanctuary & couldn't find him again. When I met Cait, I got her as my companion and sent Piper to Red Rocket. That's when I started doing the settlement build around about her.

I played through almost the entire game with Cait.

4 should take a leaf from Shelter's book and have NPC's with SPECIAL stats. I don't know why it doesn't.

Probably in the name of "balance".

I've noticed a glaringly-obvious "problem" where I've gone nuts with the "thief" perks, to the point where I can walk right under the nose of a supermutant without being noticed, and there have been times where I'm being sneaky and my sidekick will walk out in plain sight of the baddies (sometimes even bumping into them!) and they still won't become hostile until they see ME.

It rather ruins the immersion when that happens but the alternative would be that your sidekick would trigger all sorts of things that the player has gone to a lot of effort to prevent happening and, as a result, players would end up ditching their followers.

Overall, I think the followers add a lot to the game and (potentially) making them a liability could do more harm than good.

Hi Rich you will find that you probably have to download the DLC from the store as I suspect it will not auto download/install.

I think that'll be the 1.4 update. After PC got the update Steam showed the new achievements.
Hopefully that means Automotron is coming next week.

Have any of the updates recently affected the loading times on pc? I've just started playing this again and the loading screens are much longer than I remember. Turning in a quest is becoming a nightmare because it's just fast travel > enter building > turn in quest > exit building, so about 4 loading screens about a minute each. I'm spending more time waiting than I am playing.

4.1.3 with added graphical features impacted on loading times, I don't know if the latest beta update improved them or not.

Literally done everything in this now except 100% happy village and craft 100 items, done all of the endings with all of the factions.

Roll on the DLC thats all I can say because if Preston tells me to rescue another settlement, I'll kill him!!

I have nothing left mission wise to do.

I went to Sanctuary and I heard the setters arguing about my shopkeeper being a synth. Anyways I resolved it peacefully but when I went back later she was dead but the settlers keep thanking me and saying I stopped them from making a mistake.

Looks interesting but I'm a little dubious about leaving well-liked characters behind entirely.

Also...

You do if you wear the outfit while completing the Silver Shroud quests.

I can't get my miserable settlers to be happy. They get to 89% then drop again.

Same here, at my Starlight Drive Inn one it got to 78% randomly then kept dropping all the way to about 30% even though I was around most of the time 😩

I went around Sanctuary and put pillows on all the beds. Added a couple of paintings and vases per house. Got me an extra 3% happiness. Or, I was just hanging around for long enough...? Up to 88% now.
My PS4 playthrough seems to have settled down now and the happiness no longer plummets if I'm away for more than 2 minutes.

Switched back to my X1 save. I'd forgotten how messed up my settlements were due to a bug not letting me place things correctly. I literally have generators floating in mid-air. Most of them are in desperate need of a remodel. At least, at lvl 78, I have plenty of resources for the overhaul.
