Strike Back: Legacy (Sky 1 pace)
I've been looking for a thread about Strike Back but couldn't find one - anyone else watching? I love this show, gutted it's the final season!

This show is a guilty pleasure for me. I know it's absolute guff and completely over the top but I still enjoy it! Not quite as bad as Ultimate Force but reminds me a lot of that show.

I love Strike Back. It failed to record on my sky planner last night so imagine my delight (and the reason i'm up so late) when i realised that the first 4 episodes are on demand!!
I only hope that Scott and Stonebridge decide to retire at the end of all this. I'm going to be hugely peed off if they suddenly lose their magic ability to avoid a hail of bullets. |

I can't decide whether to watch the next three episodes now and have a massive wait til episode five, or just watch them week by week. Being weak of will it'll probably be the former!

I love this show. Yes it's OTT and completely brainless at times but it's also slick, action packed and a lot of fun. Nothing wrong with a bit of balls to the wall action from time to time.

Episodes 5-8 will be available on demand from July 1, and the final two on July 29.

It's daft as a brush but I'm still enjoying it. Those enemy sorts have terrible aim though don't they?

I’m absolutely loving this final season (and the previous ones have been great too obviously). The plots are always total nonsense with no connection to any sort of reality, but it’s always a good hour of television with lots of gratuitous swearing, sex and violence.
I’m not sure how it’ll end (we’re actually getting this season before the US) but I did read that there were initially plans to continue with a new broadcast partner (Amazon was mentioned) but when it became clear that wasn’t going to happen they decided to have a conclusive ending – interpret that how you will. I know Sky are allowing viewers to ‘binge watch’ on demand in advance of the actual broadcasts but can I ask that this thread remains broadcast-paced to avoid any spoilers. Thanks.

For a covert group they're not exactly stealthy are they, and if they're working pretty much on their own in a foreign land where do they keep getting all their new equipment from?
As you said though it's pretty ludicrous but great fun all the same. |

It doesn't get much discussion on these forums, but it's actually one of Sky One's most watched programmes, and always has been. The current series is averaging about 600-700,000 viewers for its first broadcast, usually making it the 2nd or 3rd most watched programme on Sky 1 of the week (usually behind Modern Family and sometimes A League of their Own).
I don't know how the last few series have rated on Cinemax in the US but I know it was their most watched programme a few years ago. It's distributed very successfully internationally too. All this makes me wonder why this is the final season... maybe high production costs and creative reasons? |

So I take it that's the end then? We've enjoyed this series in spite of the whole A Team jeopardy comedy thing with baddies that could hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Fun all the same tho.
Just one question, wtf was that last episode all about??? It made no sense at all, there was no explanation why the meracenaries were out to get them, or why the politician didn't want the team to stop a nuclear device going off in Geneva. It just made no sense at all. It kinda spoiled everything that went before. Pointless and idiotic. |

I'm still enjoying it but this series has reached new heights of ridiculousness, who knew it was so easy to get in and out of North Korea, the most secretive, closed off country in the world, lol. It's been mentioned before but Scott and Stonebridge must have some sort of top secret invisible force field the way bullets miraculously keep missing them. And it didn't take long for Scott to get over the death of Julia did it, bedding that Russian sort!

I havent watched the last 3 episodes, saving for the weekend, absolutely love this, I buy my 30 odd year old son a Chris Ryan book every xmas, standing joke now, also Special Forces, but he cant stand this,
Read an interview with Robson Green recently and he said it is all tied up so they cannot make anymore as there is nowhere to go with it. Looking forward to sat, 3 epis in 1 go. Spent the last couple of days looking for a thread for this programme. |

That's a reasonable theory but it doesn't explain why they ignored the nuclear device, and they did know about it! Sloppy/poor writing in my view. The annoying thing is that at least you could follow the plot with this programme as opposed to something like Mad Dogs where the writers didn't have a clue where they were going with it.
It could come back but they really shouldn't leave it too long. A film would be good but I'm not sure it has enough fans. As others have said, the two leads have great chemistry. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to see Philip Winchester in anything, but Sullivan Stapleton (can't believe he's Jacinta's brother) is fantastic, so I will keep an eye out for him in other things. To be person who mentioned Ultimate Force; I bought that hoping it would be like this but it is abysmal in comparison. |

I’m not really sure where to post this, as it’s a UK and US co-production, but Strike Back is being revived for a 5th season by Sky (UK) and Cinemax (US).
I’ve created a post in the US TV forum for discussion: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...6#post84837616 |
