The marvellous thing is that though he has been through the fire of bullying, he doesn't take himself seriously. I remember his wiggle with hand on hips when he sang Tenderness. That was a masterly performance. Everyone was smiling but all the old great jazz singers would have loved it. I'd love to see him do it again. Go Andrea!

I just watched the boot camp performance of IDKMOS and was deeply moved, not only by Andrea's performance, which was world class, but also by the unstinting generosity of our boys who recognised and acknowledge an outstanding artist. They all stood and clapped even though they knew that someone was going to lose his seat. It makes you proud to be British.

Haha! He seemed the same Andrea to me! Perhaps it was the fact he was making a slightly camp man a cup of tea! Hahaha, anyway... Really surprised about the joint Syco deal. I guess this means an X Factor live show performance is on the cards? I would have been worried about that news but the fact that we know it's going to be a quality album makes me think it can only be a good thing now. Syco are very good at pr.

I think he has always been very camp, but I think that the X Factor may have edited a lot of it out. How he was in the two videos over the last couple of days is how he has been when I have met him. I think it is his true self.

He is about to do his third gig at a gay club - the only three public gigs he has done since X Factor have been in these three gay clubs I believe? Both of his major, long, interviews have been for gay magazines? I have wondered if this is all building up to an announcement? Or perhaps it is just co-incidence.

I couldn't care less if he is gay or not btw - it would not change my feelings for him or my appreciation of his voice one bit. If he is, he should just be true to himself and let everyone know the truth - let the chips fall where they may... I would imagine that it is incredibly stressful to hold that sort of thing inside and have to worry about it all the time... And very unnecessary in the 21st century! Sam Smith has proven that... (Although, I believe it may be a lot more difficult in Italy still, compared to the UK). Anyone who goes off him simply because he's gay isn't a true fan anyway, and isn't a nice person either in my opinion.....

Can't that man just sod off!

At least it explains why on some formats the album is down as Syco, some RCA and some Simco.....

If that is the case, let's get the issue out into the open and be done with it. I just think that one's private life should be just that, private. I can't understand why it should concern anyone else. I get very bored with the daily tittle tattle about the trivial dating incidents in celebrity lives. That side of one's life is not the defining issue.
I love the way Andrea relates to his family. That's the real Andrea. Our darling boy. Go Andrea!

I think if all of this building up to an announcement it is better to do it sooner rather than later. I hope they aren't leaving it till when the album is coming out as some people may think it's be left to that point just to generate more publicity or some people might feel like they have been lead on, but like you said those people aren't real fans. I remember when Will Young won pop idol then came out people where in uproar at the the fact he wasn't honest from the start, but that was 14 or so years ago so it was a very different time.

Like you if he is gay or not will not change how I feel about him. He is still the same loveable person who's voice evokes so much passion and emotion and if anyone was to stop supporting him becuase of a reason like that it's their loss.

It really wouldn't change a thing for me. I love his camp mannerisms, always have! Its his beautiful soul and kind, funny nature as well as his incredible voice that made me a fan. As long as he's happy and true to himself then I'm happy! I don't know about Italy, but certainly in the UK I doubt people would even care.

I've never thought of Andrea as camp. The young man he served tea to is my idea of camp. For me, I think it's the naturalness of Andrea's mannerisms that are so endearing. They are an innate expression of his nature. In my mind, I define camp as acquired behaviour. Whatever! Go Andrea!

I was wondering whether it might have something to do with Andrea still being under the X Factor/Syco contract when he was actually recording the album? And whether because IDKMOS was going to be his winners single, Syco kind of owned that?

Could also have something to do with his contract being International, maybe RCA don't have an Italian label so it goes through another Sony one?

Interesting. My cousin thinks Andrea might be gay, yet I never got that impression from him and I can usually tell if a person is gay or maybe bisexual, some people make it more obvious than others. I find it funny that some people still have a big problem with homosexuals these days. Even if Andrea isn't straight and he comes out one day as either gay or bisexual, I won't care one bit, whatever makes him happy. He is a really great singer and whatever his sexual orientation is, it doesn't matter at all, it won't make his music better or worse. His true fans won't care either (some may be surprised at first, but will very quickly accept it) and will still continue to support him by buying his singles or albums.

Freddie Mercury was bisexual, Adam Lambert is gay and I couldn't care less, they are among my favourite singers.

Me too - I remember when I was very young and Freddie Mercury died - it was the first and only time I have cried over a celebrity dying. I loved him, his persona and his voice so much.... I still think he is one of the best vocalists ever, and wrote music, wrote lyrics, played concert piano. Amazing. And Adam Lambert is fantastic too - doing the Queen stuff and also some of his stuff on American Idol - I think his rendition of Mad World is one of the best ever songs on any talent show (of course, most of Andrea's songs are up there too!)

Andrea is who he is - with all his quirks. He should embrace it and be true to himself.... Which I think he actually does most of the time. It is the uniqueness of him - his voice, his personality, his 'soul', that people will love. And, of course, possibly some people won't like it - but then they won't buy his records anyway - so sod them!

I just hope that RCA don't make him a parody of himself - push the fact that he is quirky so much that we lose the serious, soulful, passionate essence of him....

Hope you're right. As much I love that he embraces his unique quirky personality I wouldn't like to see him being marketed for just that. He is still young and figuring himself out and he seems to very serious about his singing. That interview from the other day he said he usually doesn't enjoy recording in the studio because he doesn't feel the emotion or something along those lines can't find the interview right now

I have never seen anyone who could interact musically with an audience like Andrea. He behaves like an actor. His facial expressions, his movements, his phrasing is so expressive. He makes the audience feel what he is feeling in his heart and soul. Pavarotti said that a great singer has to be a great actor too.

I don't want the promoters to go down that condescending route emphasising only his quirky uniqueness. That's only a small part of him. He has a passionate nature, great emotional depth, compassion, humility, humour. All these things are part of him and should be emphasised in his promotional videos, tv appearances etc. GoAndrea!

As much as I hate him having to stand and sing in front of Simon again the X Factor is a great platform to get his music out there. It wouldn't look right if he didn't come back anyway people may start to think he's forgotten where he came from, you know what people can be like
