The problem with those kind of gigs of course is that they won't make big sums of money and they will only appeal for current fans - not attract new ones. So as far as attracting a new fanbase goes, supporting another act on tour is the best way to achieve that.”

It al makes sense to me.

Sadly I think however much promo there is without the major radio stations putting it on their playlists, it was doomed. If people like a single then they will probably try the album. I like GALL but agree it was the wrong choice- the sentiment is a bit cheesy.

Andrea's tweeting again with a great review of Kelly. Give him a Little Love.

I think we should wait it out and see what happens before jumping to conclusions. Sometimes things come out of the blue. They may kick the promo up this week. I just can't get used to the chart on a friday. Is Andrea back in the UK at the moment?

Don'r know if he's in the UK but I can tell you that August is Italy's holiday month for the whole month and the country literally grinds to a halt.

Diabolo, I think your slow burn is starting. He's beginning to get wonderful reviews. Alleluia! Have you seen twitter?

I'm responding to all the critics. We can all do our bit by bigging him up. @beforetheybreak want contact from listeners. Why not get your opinion out there for the music journalists to read.

Hi - I've spent the weekend updating the website - every interview, TV and radio, that he has done recently is now on there, plus live performances, all of his recent music videos, including the gorgeous unplugged ones, all the audio tracks from Kelly, recent news and photos, and the usual links, fan art, etc. Keep clicking

https://www.andreafaustini.club

Oh, and our resident lurker, Antonia from FB, got the 32,000th visit today too - well done Antonia

By the way, I think that every video of Andrea's is on the website, including a couple that are no longer available anywhere else - definitely it is the only place now where you can see the full length X Factor audition of Who's Loving You and Andrea's full appearance on Alan Carr Chatty Man...

I agree with this - it's a mystery why it never got on a playlist? Especially as it was showcased on Radio 2 twice?

Interestingly, whilst getting all the videos together for the website, I realised that the only song that doesn't have the audio released by Sony is Kelly. Even All End in Tears has the audio version, despite there being the unplugged video available. I am wondering if this is a sign that the next single to be released from the album will be Kelly? It is the title song from the album and it was the background track of the TV advert too.

Perhaps GALL was a toe in the water and they didn't want to push it too much because they are planning to spend the resources on Kelly as the main single? I know I might be being hopeful here - but Kelly is a way better song in my opinion, and more representative of the album too.... So I've got everything crossed.....

He was in Italy for his cousin's wedding - which he sang at, can you imagine that - wow

He will be back here shortly apparently - in fact it might have been today that he was flying... Let's hope he's coming back to a week of promo...

Use an add blocker extension on your browser, (chrome in my case) I have no adds/popups or videos of any kind that appear on DS.

Regarding Andrea and my it will take time comments. We know that promotion is expensive and we also know that RCA's hands are somewhat tied for the moment because of SYCO having a stake in Andrea.

I cant help but look back at how Il Volo did it.
They are not mainstream, they are however very likeable and talented at what they do as is Andrea.
They had a good group of people behind them, they were showcased on some of Americas biggest TV shows like American Idol, Jay Leno & so on, they did a ton of interviews and still do, they had some instant success but nothing major just like Andrea.
They also always released a Spanish version of their albums, they did a lot of little concerts concentrated in America then South America. Steadily those events grew bigger and bigger to the point were they were being invited to tour with the likes of Barbra Streisand. They also toured Europe and pretty much the rest of the world very likely performing in front of smallish audiences but picking up pockets of fans everywhere around the globe.
Then Sanremo came along and they were an instant hit in Italy.
That lead to Eurovision which has lead to a lot more fans across Europe.

It all took time, most of their fans got to discover them via interviews, TV appearances, youtube performances & concerts rather than some big album TV advertisement, again suggesting to me that the content of an album no matter how good will only carry so far and that it's more important the artist is sold rather than the content and that really requires time.

If there's one thing the Il volo's approach has accomplished and I think Jessika can vouch for this, it is that most of il Volo fans are now fans for life.

The Beforetheybreak Australian blogger was writing about the single Kelly. It really sounded as though it's about to be released as such.
I'm probably very ignorant about such things but I was surprised that this interest came from Australia. I also replied to an Italian critic's tweet and was amazed to find that London Mood favourited it within minutes. It seems that the cognoscenti of the music world are appreciating our boy.
Jessika,, you are so kind to Andrea. You work very hard to ensure his success. Bless you for that. Any news from the family?

As naive as it may sound considering the current album sales, I really do have this gut feeling Andrea is in it for the long run. Every time I listen to the album I’m reminded of just how good it actually is and how exceptional he is. There’s something really special about his voice and these songs. He just hasn’t had the right exposure yet.

Also, looking at what we actually know is happening - him moving permanently to the UK this month, RCA asking for new hits - it definitely suggest a long term plan.

Like Jessika, I have a feeling Kelly is going to be the next single. In one of his radio interviews (I think it was a Scottish station) the interviewer ended with something along the lines of ‘see you for the next single, probably Kelly!’ so fingers crossed Kelly is a great song, it's very different from anything else currently out there, so I hope that will help rather than hinder him when it comes to radio.

So, what would be the best scenario. Would it be having lots of radio DJs playing his singles.

This is what makes me question whether Simon will want to promote Andrea by giving him an X Factor performance - Would he risk him outshining Ben and Fleur? Sadly, It may suit him better to not remind the X Factor audience of Andrea at all.

Success-wise I think Ben will do okay and probably get a Top 5 single and album, following in similar footsteps to Matt Cardle. Fleur will have a lot more money spent on her and will be SYCOs main priority for the year. I reckon she’ll definitely have a no.1 debut single. Promo largely dictates success these days, that’s just a fact. If Andrea’s first single had its debut on X Factor, as Ben and Fleurs will, it would have probably gone top 5. If he does get a shot with a second single performed on there, I’d put money on it going top 10 (especially if its The River )”

The thing with that is he will probably blow must of the budget on doing so and if they aren't successful it's a massive loss to him which is probably why he drops so many acts if they don't sell from the beginning instead of giving them a chance. At least if RCA have had a loss it won't be too much.

Regarding a X Factor performance, it would look bad for him and the show to be seen not supporting their own act. Andrea was popular with viewers, and the majority of them will not be totally aware of Simon's manipulation so therefore they will expect him to perform on the show. If he is to perform on the show I think 'The River' would be the perfect song, but I would say bring 'Kelly' out next then 'The River'

One thing we have to remember too is that most the new entries the week before had completely dropped out of the top 40 but Andrea was still there with no promo

That's true, Sammi. Nick Jonas disappeared from the chart completely last week.

Yes, a 2nd single backed and playlisted by the big radio stations would be the best scenario - along with some big evening tv slots (X Factor, chat shows etc.) Not sure how likely it is but fingers crossed The current lack of chart success might put radio off but hopefully if they actually listen to the song they'll be swayed!
