Just received my S6 as part of my upgrade and its arrived in a white box with a vodafone logo on it! I ordered my S1, S3 and S5 over the phone and they all arrived in their proper boxes, yet this one is in a white and red vodafone box! I havent even opened it yet and can hear the contents moving about the box like they are unsecured! I did not ask for a refurbished phone or was not told I was getting a refurbished phone!! Anyone else received their new phone in a vodafone box??

Perhaps the iPhone box is inside the Vodaphone box?

I don't believe any operator sends out refurbished phones, not by default anyway!

First of all I'd take photos as proof and give them a call and ask why you've received what you have, and you can send over pictures if need be.

I'd hope not since he bought an S6!!

I left Vodaphone years ago because they did the same with me. New contract and i got a visibly obvious refurb. Get on the phone to them and get them to send you a new one.

They were initially going to charge me £49 for the phone then the Vodafone advisor got the fee waived but did not mention anything about a refurbished phone nor does it say anything on the packaging about a refurbished phone.Going to contact them now.

If they try and fob you off, just tell them you want to cancel within the cooling off period, then you can (if you want) get one from another network or somewhere like carphone warehouse where you can see it comes in a proper box etc

Its not unknown for networks to sneakily give you a refurb. Of course unless they are up front about it then its against the trades Descriptions Act. The S6 does appear to come in a white box.

See this unboxing:

Here is the official line, seems to be backed up by others on the Vodafone forum

Samsung is manufacturing handset for Vodafone so they pack the handset in Vodafone boxes as we had huge order for Samsung. However, if you have any doubt about the handset you may come down to the store and we will have the handset checked for you.

It'll probably be a new phone..I know the box you're talking about.. I received a replacement hand warmer..er I mean LG Flex 2 in a white Vodafone box.. It contained all the innards of the normal black and red retail box.. The phone had all the protective film and stuff on it and had no finger prints.. Was a bit strange but the phone was obviously new. Obviously this new phone heated up just as badly as the phone it was supposed to replace.

Snapdragon 810, what a mistake Qualcomm made.

Regarding the box thing, Vodafone's a big network across Europe and the world, it could be that they have some special arrangement with Samsung, just confuses me as to their motives.

Did you even the read the post above yours?

After reading that post, it seems its not as dodgy as first thought.

OP, I would have opened the box and had a look at the phone. It should be obvious if the phone is brand new or a refurb.

The White box in most cases tends to indicate the device as a nearly new device.
That can be a handset that was returned to Vodafone within the first 14 days of it being requested as the user didn't like the model.

These devices are normally only then offered with the incentive of lower initial outlay or a lower monthly cost than a brand new device. Most likely if sold over the phone the seller will quickly say nearly new whilst focusing mainly on the price.
