ED - Sammy Winward
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...peF4pfjZLide2u
Sammy has stated on live national tv that it was her choice to leave Emmerdale she has also stated she is happy that Katie was killed off cos it has spurred her to work harder cos she knows she can't go back so there we go right from the horses mouth (so to speak, she is too lovely to be a horse) Are you glad its been cleared up and actually neither Sammy nor Kate Oakes were lying. I am pleased she is working hard to get new roles and can't wait to see more of her on tv. such a lovely young woman |

Thank you for posting this.
![]() Wonderful to finally see Sammy speak again and to know that she's working hard and looking so happy with life. I do remember a castmate say that Sammy always had her nose stuck in a book, but this news of her book is still a surprise! I have just read a short, but very positive review at 'candy -jar' saying it is beautifully illustrated and Sammy's book majestically divulges the secrets of the Princesses, right up to the bitter end. Sad that she had to leave behind all her friends at Emmer's. Working with your best mates must have been grear fun and very difficult to walk away from!I do wish she'd said more about her new role, but hopefully we'll hear more once filming has wrapped. ![]() ps. I think it is best to finally let that Kate & Sammy saga be put to bed once and for all!!!

I've never seen Sammy in any other role so I'm interested to see how she does in Prey.
I loved the first series and would be watching the second anyway, but look forward to seeing Sammy as a different character. |

Thanks.
I've been saying this for months. She's got a book out today, and she's in a TV drama soon. |

I liked what she said about Katie being killed off has stopped her thinking about ever returning and made her work harder. I think what hurts the chances of many soap actors who leave is they are still attached to their soap character so having their character killed off can be a blessing in disguise. Charlie Brooks is an example of someone who would benefit if Janine was killed off. That would mean she could move on from her and maybe do better than she has done.

Well, some used to say she was an 'empty headed bimbo'
![]() but Sammy has proved she's certainly not!![]() ![]() To be honest, my negative comments were born out of disappointing from what I thought were some very silly and pointless lies. Well done to Sammy for moving on to a new adventures. One little gripe. Since she is no longer anything to do with soaps, shouldn't any further news about her be put into a different section of the forum? |

I'm glad it was Sammy's choice to leave and she wasn't axed.

It was her choice to leave, but not permanently.
She wanted a long break. None of us have any idea what was said behind closed doors so it's best to accept that Sammy decided to leave and then the producer and writers decided to kill off Katie Please let this be the final word on this and just be happy for the way things are going for Sammy.

Sammy is in the latest edition of OK mag.
She still loves Emmerdale and misses being in the show, but is coming to terms with it now. She's still seeing her old ED mates all the time. ![]() Leaving ED went against all her instincts, but she just felt she needed to try and do something different. She's excited about her new role and hopes to do more 'gritty roles'. Kelvin and Sammy couldn't stop crying after they'd filmed their final scene together. ahhh![]() Her new book took two years to complete. She still doesn't like to talk about her private life. ![]() People keep asking her, but she is not doing Celeb BB and neither has she been asked to do it. ![]() She seems as cheerful as ever!

The above bit interested me most. People can live with trying and failing. What you don't ever want to feel later in life is regreting not doing something you wanted to do and could have done. So Samny is right to go against her instincts. |

A heads up for this Thursday morning. Sammy will be on The Wright Stuff starting at 9:15.
While this show is not soap related, I do find it interesting to hear soap stars, or ex soap stars in this case , talking about something a bit more serious/important than their latest storyline. The only political issue I've ever heard Sammy talk about was gay marriage, so I look forward to see what else she has to say on world events.
