It seems like this might be where the story is heading. Back in February she seemed fine with Beth and covered for Bobby because of her. Also, what an outstanding actress Mimi Keene is! Fantastic episode tonight too

Seems like it, though why the hell the social worker at the very least isint picking up on that is beyond me

Loved it . I think Cindy feels lost and abandoned and never listened to

Add to this her sister dying and the knowledge that her mother died while giving birth. Its enough to make anyone feel distant from their child. Cindy has been through such a rough time.

Her sister's murder, finding out the truth and losing Peter, who was a great support to her....possibly PTSD.

I think subconsciously she doesn't want her daughter brought up in that house as well.

Cindy needs counselling. It's likely she has post natal depression. I didn't like the way Cindy was accused of potentially posing a threat to Beth. I think Eastenders' portrayal of social workers is pretty bad. I have a social worker and she has been brilliant for years. She's been so helpful. I think the storyliners should have Cindy diagnosed with post natal depression by a doctor and deal with it properly and with sensitivity.

Yeah, it seems pretty clearly to be post natal depression and the fact that no one is even suggesting it is really insane for me.

I get that Jane & Ian aren't picking it up since they are self-centred, blinkered fools, but I'd have hoped the social worker might have noticed something...instead she's practically bullying a clearly distraught teenager into giving up her daughter.

I agree. I'm not sure about her having post natal depression but I do think she's somewhat traumatised from every that happened and it's affecting her. IMO she knows she can't be the mother that Beth deserves but I believe she still has that protection instinct and wants that baby out that house and away from those freaks which is why she was screaming at the social worker to take her away. It looked like she was having a mega teenage tantrum but Iike you I think there was a bit more to it and the social worker should have seen it too.

Could be very likely, PND doesn't just occur in the first initial weeks following birth as many seem to think. Add onto that she is still a child (well young teen) herself, her family unit has undergone huge trauma with Lucy's murder and the family consequently falling apart pretty much, plus the truth that came out. She always seemed closer to Peter, and now he has left, not to mention Beth's father no longer around to support her. It is a lot for anyone to happen in a lifetime, never mind in a few months. No wonder she is confused, angry and irrational at times. Raising a child is hard enough for anyone who doesn't have EE style misery.

the trouble is she can't articulate reasons why she wants her to go, so she ends up looking like a petulant teenager having a paddy.

There's a saying 'anyone who's a problem, got a problem' The SW should know this.

I hope they really do a depression story for a youngster

I'm disappointed Ian hasn't been sympathetic because him and Cindy shared a really heartfelt, poignant scene when he helped her give birth to Beth last year. He told Cindy he was going to look after her and seemed to accept her as a member of the family. It was an emotional and lovely scene - hope it hasn't been forgotten

It's the social worker in this that is being poorly portrayed. Jane we know is sociopathic and Ian supports her behaviour but it is wrong to have social services supporting them against Cindy. They hate social services on EE look at the Lola story. Giving Lexi to Phil the cokehead crim!

She seems to think she had a say what happens to her baby, but once they abandon their baby it's up to the social workers what happens, not the one who gave birth.
Once they're in the care system anything can happen to them. They're put on lists of vulnerable children to abuse by powerful paedophiles. Most of the children taken to Elm House were from care homes.

She was terrible. She should have given Cindy the chance to talk to her alone...instead she blamed her. Then there is Ian's medical history, a depression that caused him to abandon his children for months. And wouldn't a Police check throw up the fact that they are still under suspicion for the murder of Lucy.

It is as frustrating as Lola being given to Phil...a known criminal and addict who's son was in prison for manslaughter.

I might be in the minority but I didn't get that impression at all from her tonight. All I saw was a spoilt manipulative little brat throwing their toys out the pram when they didn't get their own way

Would be a great storyline for Mimi.

I have to say I'm so glad Cindy finally spoke up and threatened Ian and Jane with her knowledge. Bear in mind Cindy hasn't actually grown up with Jane unlike Peter and Lucy. She's only known Jane for just over a year. Why would she trust someone who did what Jane did with her baby? This storyline is looking to get very exciting. I hope Cindy dishes out some brutal home truths in tomorrow's episode. I want to hear something along the lines of "who drags their step daughter through a cold common in the middle of the night and leaves her there?" or "what kind of father are you in accepting this sick woman's actions?" Someone needs to say what the audience is thinking and only Cindy can at the moment.

Cindy's problems with Beth only started after she was taken away from her when Jane & Ian fled the scene after the reveal - when Beth came back, Cindy couldn't bond with her and that was the first indicator of post natal depression, where Cindy was convinced Beth hated her, and it culminated in Cindy abandoning Beth. Prior to that, Cindy was an enthusiastic and involved mother.

I don't think it has anything to do with Cindy not getting her own way - no one is listening to what she wants, it is only about what Ian and Jane and psycho boy wants.

Yeah she does. She's showing all the symptoms of it. It's sad that no one is helping her for her sake and Beth's.

I really felt for Cindy whilst watching her try and point out that she doesn't want Beth but doesn't want Jane and Ian bringing Beth up either right in front of her every day,
Yes I also think Cindy has some kind of post natal or post traumatic stress depression but if I could see through what she was trying to say to the social worker then surely the social worker should have realised to,
I cannot believe that Jane cannot see what Cindy is trying to say,...oh Ian I can believe that he hasn't got a scooby do

I don't get why the social worker didn't let Cindy talk to her alone, she was *clearly* distressed and being pressured every time she tried to say what was going on. I also don't understand where people are getting 'brat' from because yeah, she can be demanding but she was (obviously, I thought) scared and upset about having Beth being raised by Ian and Jane. And honestly, when Ian and Jane stood up in unison after Cindy said she knew, part of me thought they were gonna do her in! Ian and Jane are so twisted and creepy now. If I were Cindy, even though I didn't want my daughter, I'd take her and asked to be housed somewhere else and then when away from them, try and get her adopted out. They're terrifying!

On the acting front, I thought Mimi was OTT but I also thought it worked. The hysterical crying and screaming is pretty realistic. It did very much feel like ~actress trying to cry~ rather than Cindy crying but I don't think she was as awful as some are saying.
