If Cindy has post natal depression - which seems likely - she may not be able to relate to Beth and just wants her out of her sight. She told Ian and Jane she wasn't going to babysit, change nappies and didn't want to hear Beth crying. Also, screaming "just take her away" was a bit of a clue.
If Ian and Jane adopted Beth, Cindy would still see her, and might feel guilt, on top of everything else, that she couldn't cope with the situation.

Really??
Cindy was born in prison and her mother died in childbirth. Ian didn't want her and sent her to live with his ex wife's family. When she came to Walford, everyone seemed to hate her, except Peter. She got pregnant by TJ, a boy who might have stuck by her but who moved away instead. I think she was starting to get closer to Lucy, then Lucy was murdered. She's still a teenager herself, possibly with undiagnosed post natal depression - and you think the solution is to knock her about a bit to teach her not to be "selfish"?

If Cindy kept Beth and started hitting her, she'd be arrested, not given a "parent of the year" award. Phil was beaten as a kid, and look how he turned out.

Fair enough Cindy has had a tough upbringing, but the portrayal of the results of this can be a bit over the top. I think Mimi 's subtlety and vulnerability is great, particularly in the live episode, but it's the crying and winging when she can hardly pronounce what's she saying that is too much. It's not just crying and gushes of release that makes a good actor, it's the fighting back of the tears and personal struggle to hold back the tears - that's what makes a good actor

Perhaps but the actor is doing what the writers have written and the what the director requires, and somebody that age is unlikely to question them the way Adam might as he is more likely to be heard

Mimi is just not a good enough actress for this stuff. In fact very few actresses of her age over the years would have been good enough. Two spring to mind - Susan Tully and Lacey Turner.

Mimi Keene is a bit of a mixed bag for me, to be honest. I think her performances range from wooden (last night's ep) to fantastic (live week). I know she's young and I'm not expecting her to deliver performances that rival Meryl Streep's and so on, but, in my view, I think she certainly has potential. The live week (in particular the Friday episode) showed what a good actress she can be.

Or, is she another one of those soap stars that prove just what a good actor/actress they can be when the writing for their character is right? (Jessie Wallace is an example of this, in my opinion; when the writing for the character of Kat is bad, Jessie's acting isn't what it could be, in my view, but when the writing is right, Jessie can run rings around most of the other cast members acting-wise.)

Mimi can be excellent, but I think she overdid it in some of the scenes last night.

People seem to forget that character of Cindy is a teenager lol. Teenagers are usually very reactive. Now that she is going through a very difficult time probably due to post natal depression. She's being irrational because she doesn't understand her emotions which is very real as teenagers are just learning about themselves.

I think subconsciously the reason why she wants Beth "far away from her" is not for herself but to protect Beth from the Beales more importantly Bobby who is a murderer. Cindy needs understanding from someone I hope could be Carol and then get some counselling to under her emotions. The social worker was an awful representation - a good one would of talked to her in private to understand her concerns.

Tonight made me realize how fantastic Mimi is! Didn't understand the hype of her until yesterday. She's really is an exceptional talent.

I have honestly never seen such appallingly bad wildly ott acting in EE. I was genuinely stunned by how shockingly terrible she was. It's the kind of dire acting you'd expect to see from the very worst in HO.

I usually rate Mimi Keane. But she really overacted the crying scenes. They really grated on me!

I'd say it was even worse than that, and that's saying something.

The bad acting in Hollyoaks is quite funny to watch.

If you haven't seen it yet, imagine walking around whilst giving birth and you got it.
