My partner buying me books that I want.
Lola's Cupcakes. A good sermon at church. Hugs and jokes with my Pastor's wife. Getting my legs waxed. My children telling me that I look beautiful every morning, even when I know I look a mess. |

Sunny days, my dog and cats, my lovely husband who has brought me a bunch of roses as today is both the anniversary of our first date 17 years ago (also a Friday!) and our 10th wedding anniversary.

When my friends 2 year old pretends her breadstick is a recorder. She has the eyes closed, head and hand movements spot on.

When I see my granddaughter on Skype. She has a really simple life - she has never seen a television and has very few toys, but she is always thrilled by something. Today it was a corn cob on a fork; she was absolutely radiant about it, then she climbed into the dog basket with it and just laughed and laughed and laughed.

Seeing a dog (the smaller the better) carrying a BIG stick home from 'walkies'.
"I've had an ace day, so I'm taking this stick home as a souvenir". Letting a motorcyclist past me and looking for the incredibly subtle yet cool show of gratitude, by them just raising their fingers slightly off the left handlebar/grip thingy. |

Unexpected displays of niceness. A woman once crossed a whole cafe just to tell me that my children were adorable. (Something that rarely happened when they were teenagers and all goth, but at the time they were about 2 and 4 and having a good day).
And the times when you catch a stranger's eye and realize you are laughing at the same thing. As in Waitrose when I once heard a small child having a loud strop, wailing, "I want some broccoli! I want some broccoli!" - and the man next to me laughed, just as I did. |
