My best friend just left after randomly popping to my house in the middle of the night with food and gossip. I like having friends who seem to be able to sense when I can't sleep.

Happy bday Beth and Nona.

There's loads of things, to be honest I never really feel down, I'm always quite positive and look on the bright side of things, life's too short to be miserable.

A lot of mine are food and drink related though.

Trying a new beer and it being amazing, I try to have a different beer every time I have a drink (providing I'm in a decent ale pub), you're bound to get some that aren't brilliant and some that are average but when you get a really great one it's fantastic.

Cooking for other people and seeing them really enjoy it. I also like it when you "convert" someone, my wife hated fish when we met (as she'd never had it fresh or well cooked), she now enjoys fish and part of that is from trying dishes I'd made. I love it when I serve up a fish dish and she loves it.

When you order a dish in a restaurant and it comes out and the presentation is great and you just smile to yourself.

Popping candy!

Hearing a new song for the first time and absolutely loving it on first listen.

Going to a gig and just being totally into it, just standing there and being totally into the music.

When you have a busy calendar on your phone and you look at it and realise you've tonnes to look forward to.

When my son does something new or interesting.

I had a huge smile on my face just now when I caught that mangy moggy who delights in defecating on my flower beds with a super soaker. Caught the bugger just right too, a face-full of cold water right in the phizog. Bet that little blighter won't be back

I envy those who have posted and said they are upbeat a lot of the time. TBH I struggle to stay cheerful most days for various reasons.

The only thing guaranteed to make me happy these days are animals. I saw a spaniel choosing to walk off the pavement this morning and onto the road to do his morning business stopping traffic and mortifying the owner. This made me laugh out loud.

My least fav thing is people. I am sampling a small proportion of all people I know but I see much more evidence of folk being shitty to each other and animals (don't get me started) than being nice these days more and more.

Was walking along a street in Ealing and a mother and pram overtook me

"HELLO"

The baby spoke to me. Now I don't gush over babies etc

I grinned and said "hello" back. The woman grinned back at me. The baby shouted "Hello" before whisked away...

That little moment made my day...

A few months ago I was getting off a bus, and a girl with downs held her hand out to me to high five her.

It's rude to leave her hanging. So, obviously gave her some skin....

I delight in doing the same to pigeons, jackdaws and magpies - quite tricky though
