Eastenders - Is Cindy jealous?
Harlowe
04-06-2015
I know a few theories have been speculate on why she is behaving like this but could it boil down to that she is jealous of Beth and the fact Ian & Jane are adopting her and not Cindy, she never made shy of the fact she felt abandon, unwanted by her birth father, mother's family and even Ian, when she fell pregnant she said she want something of her own but now it all starting to unravel, she never had stability it seems or proper love and maybe her decision to stop the adoption is out of envy then because it the right thing to do.

It seems out of sorts, she spent months caring and loving her child and one week away with Ian & Jane makes her want to give her away, it just doesn't make much sense.

Thoughts?

I just think the writing has been crap. All the good work that was done between Ian and Cindy up until live week, then it went inexplicably in a completely different direction

Agreed!

When the Beales found out about bobby killing Lucy, Cindy understood why Ian and Jane would cover up for Bobby and said to Peter about him not knowing what it's like to have a child (or something like that, I cant remember!)
Then suddenly a couple of weeks afterwards she doesn't want Beth anymore

Jealousy is probably a part of what's upsetting her, along with possible PND and being worried about Ian and Jane raising her daughter after what she knows about Lucy's death. It seems like she's really struggling to cope with so much emotion to deal with and she feels like she has no one who will support her rather than just think about Beth. She needs help, but everyone around her is just focused on Beth while believing Cindy is being a spoilt teenager and being deliberately difficult to cause trouble.

Yes, it's completely understandable. This something that was meant to be her own has become something that is now the Beales' own. Her child is almost replacing her role in the family and she now has no place of belonging. She wants her daughter gone so she can have her place in the family back. Unlikely that that will happen. It'll just cause a huge rift in the family. After Bobby's comment today he might even attack her like he did Lucy.

I don't think she's jealous. Jane has nudged her aside and taken over looking after Beth and I think that combined with post natal depression has contributed to Cindy feeling unable to cope. It might be better if Cindy moves in with Carol and takes Beth with her. I don't know if Carol would permit that though and apparently Liam is leaving so Cindy might go with him. I think if Cindy has time with her daughter at Carol's she might bond with Beth again.

bib 1 - That's how I see it, that's how I've seen it since Ian & Jane came back from their honeymoon. But most other people think it's obvious she has post natal depression rather than simple jealousy

bib 2 - Going from "you don't have a child, Peter" to "either she goes or I go" in the space of a few weeks still seems really bizarre to me, I've always thought that as soon as she gave them that 'either she goes or I go' ultimatum they should've called her bluff and suggested that she find herself somewhere else to live seeing as she was the one who wasn't happy there.

It does come across that way. Beth is getting the attention, while Cindy isn't. The girl needs to grow up. Keep her baby, or give Beth to Ian and Jane. If she is not happy being near Beth, then she can go and leave to live with her Gran.

Why should Beth suffer, due to Cindy being selfish and jealous? Ian and Jane haven't been great parents, protecting Bobby, but they are willing to love and protect Beth, which is good.
