Mentally deranged, ungrateful brat, or always have been a nasty thieving cow?

What do you think?

She has all the signs of post natal depression whether or not that is where this is leading to I don't know but I'm surprised the social worker didn't suggest this for Cindy's behaviour.

She has, and she's just getting worse.

I find her a totally unlikeable character. To quote the late Frank Butcher I'd like to give her a "dry slap" when she throws her tantrums!

She was a selfish child when she arrived, but motherhood did settle her down until the family took Beth away and left her alone. I don't think she's being selfish now, she want's what's best for her child and she doesn't believe that's being brought up by Jane and Ian. I agree with her.

She's a troubled young girl, she is not acting up for the sake of it.

The reality of motherhood has hit hard and she doesn't want to bring up Beth but she has seen what Ian and Jane have previously raised and doesn't want them involved either.

What is it with so many different threads about this awful character?

I agree. Cindy, to me, was a bit of a brat when she first joined but 're the Beth situation, it is more than that. She is evidently struggling and it does not seem like she is getting much support from Ian and Jane at all, who are predominantly focused on Beth.

What I don't get is why can't she just bugger off anyway if she hates Ian & Jane so much????

And why doesn't Ian just chuck her out let the SW take the baby and if they really want the baby apply for guardianship/fostering/adoption etc. if at all possible.

Best for the uncontrollable nasty cow to be out of their hair now and cut off any responsibility full stop.

None of the above! She's feeling neglected and unwanted. That can turn the best of us into monsters which we never thought we could become. She doesn't choose to be like that. Her life circumstances are what make her like that. She's in pain and she's in a situation that's out of her control. You can't possibly expect someone in her position to just accept everything that's happening. The way she's behaving is a reaction to it all.

I'm not sure that she thinks that Jane and Ian would be bad parents per se (though I'd say they are), I think she just can't stand of being around Beth having given her up. She needs no contact at all which I find completely understandable.

Cindy was a brat when she first arrived but I don't think she is being one now over Beth. Being around her but not being her mother is a disaster waiting to happen for all of them, for Beth who might well find it confusing as she grows up, for Cindy who shouldn't have to see her child at all if she has given her up, for Jane who might feel jealous and rejected if in years to come Cindy and Beth bond and get close and for Ian who I'm sure does see her as some kind of Lucy replacement deep down.

I was always borderline about Ian re his parenting skills. I thought he made mistakes but did love his kids more than anything else and tried his best. But the way he has handled Bobby since the reveal and the quite callous way he is disregarding Cindy's concerns now has put him firmly in the 'bad' category for me now. I won't even start on Jane's almost pathological need to keep herself and Bobby safe from punishment for Lucy's death and I also always wondered how Peter, Lucy and especially Bobby felt about her need to have her 'own' baby via adoption. Strikes me it must leave them feeling they weren't 'good enough' for her.

She's only 16, still at School and doesn't have anywhere to go? We saw her ask cindy's sister to take her in last night and was refused.

I'm Sure Social Services would look very kindly on a request for Guardianship of a baby from a couple who had just chucked the baby's mother out on the Street - not.

Fine, Cindy isn't related to them, she isn't their responsibility but neither is Beth and frankly they can't have one without the other in this situation.

You could be right Kat, but I do think there's an element of 'they don't understand my needs so are they right for Beth'. After all Beth will be a teenager one day, one with her own problems.
Then there is Bobby. Jane has put his needs before anyone else's in the family over the last year...before Ian, Peter or poor Lucy. Will Beth be second best to Jane's son.

Of course this is all supposition. All we know is that she want's the best for her daughter.

Please don't forget that McBeale is a confirmed unhinged sociopath, and Cindy is both hot and correct in her reasoning that Beth would be best off away from the Scotch bitch.

To be fair Cindy did act selfishly. It's fine to voice her feelings once but after that she should just keep quiet. As the social worker rightly said Ian and Jane can give Beth a stable home, also Jane can't have children of her own and it's almost like a second chance for Ian and Jane after losing Lucy. Cindy is only 16 and even if she does feel a bit hurt, she can concentrate on her studies spend time with Liam and then get a job and go away. The blackmail was completely uncalled for and she crossed the line by doing that. Also she threw tantrums at everyone so I'm not surprised that Ian and Jane lost patience with her.
