Emmerdale: The triangle to watch this summer is Ashley/Laurel/Harriet
Emmerdale did those promo pics for their summer campaign showing all the triangles this summer but they left out the best one, Ashley/Laurel/Harriet. Last night when Laurel said she wanted to be the woman she was when she was with Ashley and how she was happy when she was with him showed that she wants him back. Then the scene after that when Laurel and Harriet were going at each other and Harriet slapped Laurel was amazing. All three actors involved are great and its very believable that the Laurel would want Ashley back as he's been most supportive of her. Plus Harriet has made it clear that she won't let Laurel steal Ashley away from her, so I'm really want to see how this all plays out.

I think, on reflection, I would have preferred Ashley and Laurel to have remained married, and trouble-free; as the one constant throughout the programmes history-with them remaining happy and together.
As they've scripted Laurel by making her have an affair with the awful Moron, and later marrying him, I want to watch her as a drunk as she plays the role SO well. In a way it serves her and Moron right for having the affair initially. I don't want Harriet and Ashley seperating. |

I'd like to see Ashley and Laurel reunite because I think they still have a lot of chemistry and make a great couple. Plus I think Harriet would be better of paired with someone a little more lively like Bob.

For now, I bet you if someone told you 5 years ago that Marlon and Laurel would have been married you wouldn't have believed it or that Robert would turn gay and have an affair with Aaron.
But in my opinion, it would be a waste to have built up that very sweet story with Ashley and Harriet over the past year just to ruin it to reward Laurel for hurting Ashley so much with her affair. I also don't see this supposed chemistry with Bob, but there you go. I'd rather not see it happen, but I do agree with you that this story is a very interesting one to watch (much more so than the Jai/Leyla affair that has been pushed as one of the big summer stories!).

I like Laurel and Ashley's chemistry. They certainly work well together as characters and actors. I think they are better suited than Harriet and Ashley. I think Moron is partly responsible for Laurel's depression. She felt that her and Arthur were side lined and she felt she was competing with Donna. I'm NOT saying it's OK for Laurel to be jealous of April but I can see how she felt side lined. Moron neglected Laurel for quite some time and didn't notice how she felt. I'm not saying turning to drink (or drugs in other cases) is the answer but I can understand how Laurel started having the odd glass of wine which led to a slippery slope.
Harriet and Ashley have the church in common but that's all. I would like Laurel and Ashley to get back together and for him to help her get better. For an addict their environment plays a part in their recovery and I don't think she should be with Marlon. I can see Harriet resorting to dirty tricks in the fight over Ashley. Maybe she will even spike Laurel's orange juice.... |

Yup I think this will be their best story of the summer and its really good that in this triangle you have shippers on both sides of it, you can't say the same for the others, I don't think anyone is rooting for Robert and Chrissy or that anyone cares who Jai ends up with.

We all know what that drunken witch wants, to have her cake and eat it. Just because Ashley had to work during the school holidays for just one week, which btw is smething sh has never seemed to do full time, she goes off with the dreadful Moron. Now, because the dreadful Mr Dingle has kicked her into touch because she slept with some random old slimeball and caught an STD the dreadful Moron won't have her back. So now, she is tryoing to play on Ashley's feelings, we all know the vicar is a soft touch for a sob story, but beware druken lady, Harreit is no pushover.
Honest;ly, I haven't been so incensed since Loopy Laurel first went off with the gangly great drip that is the dreadful Moron Dingle. ![]() ![]()

No definitely not, not after the way she treated him. Also I think Ashley and Harriet are good together.

Laurel doesn't want Ashley, she just wants support and someone to lean on and with his calling that's part of his job. He's just closer to her, because of their history, than he is to most of his parishioners.
Marlon could have been that person if she hadn't treated him so badly, but sometimes it's those you're closest to that you lash out at - because there's nobody else there, or you think they'll take it. She'll be back with Marlon, eventually. |

I can't find anything remotely interesting about the insipid Harriet / Ashley narrative - however, John Middleton & Charlotte Bellamy always bring something interesting to their scenes together.
You only have to see how much interest / debate this current narrative direction for the pair have generated to realise just how "watchable" they are together. For me, it matters little about whether they should get back together or not - what matters is, the only time they've ever been interesting as characters is when they are acting with each other. |

Pete/Debbie/Ross seems to be the 'main' love triangle over the summer but those 3 actors in my opinion have little to no chemistry. Leyla/Jai/Megan is boring, Leyla is a much better character than to be paired with Jai. Aaron/Robert/Chrissie I'm not liking the sound of the plot development on that. I'm genuinely interested to see how this one plays out, who Ashley will go for (hint: Harriet please) and if this is the push that changes Laurel and wakes her up from her self destruct. |

But, but, but Laurel and Marlon love story was so, so, so romantic.
How can the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet cease to be?

The reason they left it out might be because there won't be a love triangle between those 3. You're assuming there will be because of current circumstances but that's not to say those circumstances will continue into the summer. They might but they might not.

Yes! The perfect couple
![]() I gotta disagree, Laurel said last night that she was happy when she was with Ashley and that wants to be the woman she was when they were married again, that was a sign to me that she wants him back, plus Harriet over heard that and clearly felt some type of way about because she not only read Laurel but slapped her as well. She doesn't want to be lumbered with Donna's kid, as she has been. That brat wasn't around when she was with Ashley. That was the catalyst that sent her over the edge. That and the way Marlon fawned over drippy Donna as if Laurel didn't exist. Much as I love Marlon, a lot of it is his own doing. |

Laurel was jealous of April and Donna, and she never let up on that even when she found out that Donna was dying. When Donna died she continued to be jealous of April despite the fact that a little girl had just lost her mother. She didn't seem to be able to understand that Marlon needed to be there for April, she wanted to be the centre of Marlons universe. I am not a fan of Marlon but Laurel should have shown more compassion and understanding instead of acting like a spoilt child

As for Marlon from what I've seen and this is just me watching a bunch of a old youtube clips but he seems to only care for his wives after they die or are dying. He cheated on Tricia with Charity, so clearly he wasn't that devoted to her. But after she died he she was such a big part of his life that her ghost affected his relationship with Donna. Then Donna returns years later with his kid he wants her and the kid gone, then he finds out she is dying and she becomes more important than she ever was during their marriage, and in the process ignores current wife Laurel. |
