Which networks can text 03 numbers?
I've got a cheeky little favour to ask...
![]() Send me a text on 03333 406599 (+44 3333 406599) just saying what network/mvno you're texting from - and if you want credit for helping when I post my results here to share you can tell me your forum name ![]() I'm being geeky and wanting to know which networks currently support SMS to certain 03 range numbers. I *believe* Three do if I remember correctly - but the only other SIM I have at the moment (believe it or not, being an anorak, lol ! , with any credit on it) to test with is an EE (Orange Based) MVNO, which I've tried and isn't sending (TPO). Please also reply to this post saying what network you tried from as it may say sent but not actually deliver - the whole point of the experiment. *Disclaimer: Texting an 03 number SHOULD be included in any text allowances you have, but some networks may charge - if they do, the worst case is the standard text charge. Thank you, RightOnPard (Your Resident Cornishman). |

One sent from (T-Mobile based) EE MVNO Vectone Mobile.
*Vectone are a full MVNO & as such just 'roam' on EE - i.e do all their own routing, have their own MNC 234-01, their own SMSC for delivering SMS etc, so they don't count as 'T-Mobile' based. Just a side note - but that's good & thanks because we know now about those brands also!. ----------------------- Results so far: Three - Yes Vectone - No Delight - No ----------------------- Still need testers for everything but Three, Vectone & Delight |

Class 0 Message That's what you get when you try from EE.
Sorry you cannot text to numbers beginning with 03 (+443). This is an invalid number range |

Vodafone (Sainsbury's) seems to reject the message completely when sending - and their SMSC number is not the same as Vodafone but is in the same area code (other features like the USSD codes are identical to on Vodafone)
Tesco/o2 doesn't appear to work either |

Mundio based MVNO's (Vectone Mobile & Delight Mobile) confirmed NOT delivering to 03 numbers by Lost Boy - thanks!

Another side note (and this one may be handset specific, I don't really know, but it is consistent); Vectone differentiates between T-Mobile and Orange masts onscreen - T-Mobile masts coming up as 'Vectone', Orange masts coming up as 'VECTONE', which is quite handy. |

No problem
Ah, thanks, that's a great explanation as to why it 'roams' rather than running directly on the network like Virgin Mobile (and others) do. I knew it 'roamed' on EE, just wasn't overly sure why. Another side note (and this one may be handset specific, I don't really know, but it is consistent); Vectone differentiates between T-Mobile and Orange masts onscreen - T-Mobile masts coming up as 'Vectone', Orange masts coming up as 'VECTONE', which is quite handy. Indeed they do, I used to use Vectone, and loved that little qwerk... Some of the EE MVNO's do, or did do that also at one point - the reason being was the sim card could not be programmed with identical names for different MNC codes It's also why Vectone/Delight were the only EE MVNO that would not work with the signal box - although this setup has since changed and even foreign roaming cards can now use EE Signal box - they behave in exactly the same way as a regular BTS now.

Tesco/o2 doesn't appear to work either Well that concludes the experiment, thanks to everyone who took part. So for the benefit of people of anybody looking for this information & search engines, or the mobile networks when they're asked/told about it: As of 5th June 2015, the following networks deliver to 03 numbers: ----------------------- Results: Three - Yes EE - No o2 - No Vodafone - No Vectone & Delight - No ------------------------ |
