I am guessing Phil gave Shazza the real address of her birth dad this time which means he has no idea that Gavin is actually Kathy's husband. No way would he have done that, okay Sharon didn't have the bottle to knock on the door but Phil wasn't to know that and he wouldn't ever of risked the truth getting out about Kathy. Looks like Phil isn't actually as bad as what we thought And just imagine if Cindy wasn't kicking off then Ian would have gone with Sharon tonight and no doubt Ian would have encouraged her to knock at the door

Agreed, her asking Ian along and being dismissed was delicious foreshadowing. I'm surprisingly excited by this and EE has been peeing me off for years!

I think Phil doesn't know that Gavin is actually Sharon's dad.

My interpretation of it was that Phil knows Kathy's husband Gavin is Sharon's father and that Gavin is a nasty piece of work, he doesn't want Sharon to find this man which is why he employed Gordon. However because Sharon has discovered his deception he knows he's lost her unless he tells the truth so he gave her Gavin and Kathy's address allowing her to discover the truth for herself. The look of relief on his face when she revealed she didn't go through with it said it all. The irony that Sharon asked Ian to accompany her and he turned her down - if he had gone with her he would have come face to face with his mum!

Well anything can happen in a soap - but to have Kathy out in South Africa having just happened to marry someone who turned out to be the long lost and unknown biological father of Sharon, would be unusually clumsy and unlikely.

Much more likely to assume that it's a different man, with the not uncommon name Gavin.

We'll see I suppose. But if they do go for the single Gavin plotline I'd feel let down. They should be able to do better than that.

Not a spoiler, purely speculation, if Gavin is both Sharons Dad and Kathys husband and is someone Den knew back in the day couldn't he have been a friend of Kathy's brother Ted? It's makes it a lot less random if Kathy met up with an old friend and ended up in a relationship with him.

I honestly expect Sharon to knock on the Door and Kathy to answer, or when sharon returned and she was silent with Phil here to turn around and go "i went to that address.... why didnt you say Kathy isnt dead?" Cue Doof Doof.

I personally still think this is another fake-dad that Phil had as a back-up plan. I think he set this up in-case Gordon failed. He was banking on either Sharon not wanting to call due to 'daddy' rolling in money, guessing Sharon would flee following the rags-to-riches contrast with Gordon of that if Sharon did knock on the door her 'dad' would deny everything and Sharon would put it down to her 'dad' wanting to deny all knowledge of her.

That's exactly what I expected to happen. Sharon discovering Kathy would be epic.

Thats how they made it more plausible by saying that Den knew Sharon's father. This then links Gavin to Walford and anyone else around at the time like Kathy and Ted.

It's not really unrealistic that Kathy is married to Sharon's father because he knew Den. Kathy grew up in Walford so she probably knew Den's friend really well.
