Wow, most probably the worst show in the series, the only person to take some credit from this is Carrie.

I would like to ask the question, what the hell does the yanks see in Anthony and Gangsta wannabe Scotty?

They should of walked from show 1!

Fantasia performance was awesome, absolutely brilliant.

Here's my opinions on an "aiight" show:

Scott - He was Aiight! He sounded better than last week (but that isn't saying much!) 4/10

Constantine - I really didn't like this! I don't know why, but it's probably got to do with the song! 5/10

Carrie - I thought she sang really really well! It was a dull song though! 9/10

Vonzell - I thought she took a risk and sang really well tonight! Again, like Carrie, it wasn't a fantastic song, but she did her best with it! 8.5/10

Anthony - I thought this was rubbish! He seems to get worse every week! 1/10

Nikko - I thought he was really good! I didn't think he would've done that good! 8/10

Anwar - I got bored after the first 15 seconds! He doesn't "excite" me when he sings/performs! 6/10

Bo - He did well considering this was so far away from his comfort zone! 6.5/10

Nadia - I didn't think she did as good as people are saying, but then again, she sang better than she has recently! She looked stunning! 7.5/10

Rankings:

1. Carrie
2. Vonzell
3. Nikko
4. Nadia
5. Bo
6. Anwar
7. Constantine
8. Scott
9. Anthony

Results Show

32.8 million votes - I can't believe it! That's amazing!

Fantasia - She proved why she's the American Idol! What an amazing performance! 10/10!!!!

Bottom 3

3. Vonzell - No way did she deserve to be there!
2. Scott - Wasn't the worst but deserved to be there! Out of these 3, he should have gone!
1. Nikko - Poor Guy! I thought he sang really well!

Here's hoping for a better week next week! I think it could be as the theme will be (unconfirmed, but pretty sure it will be):

Spoiler

Fantasia appears to still be very successful. (I am in California right now, not Hammersmith, poor me).

She was on Ellen de Generes's talk show last week ~(singing only), standing ovation, and some other TV show as well, still pushing her album. Previous week she won a national award for being best new African American female artiste and was in big-selling magazines such as People on that score. Very hard to stay visible in USA as there is so much media and none of it reaching everyone. She is managing to do that.

When I bought her album last year it had sold out and we had to tour various stores to find it, seemed very popular, if oddly categorised IMO. I understand she has had two top ten hits, don't know what that means as US has seemingly endless charts.

Rueben and Kimberley Caldwell were on a new sitcom show set in a fast food restaurant: they sang (jokily) and the usual cast described it as 'pitchy' etc.

Kim C seems to be very high profile and I am not sure why considering she got voted off quite early in her series. She appears all the time on the TV guide channel (a squashed up programme over rolling lists of what's on every other channel - no shame to be on it a lot of household names appear on it pushing their progs). She's covering this series of Idol with magazine items, where are they now on old series and studio reviews (rather intelligent ones) and web votes on AI4. I saw her before on Sharon Osbourne's talk show last year too as someone 'getting on' so she seems to be doing a bit like Hayley did after PI1 in the UK.

Paula does Entertainment Tonight or some such equivalent show (they all look the same to me) as a presenter. Reads like a shouting five year old and only says lovely things.

I thought on Ellen Fanasia looked as if she had packed on a bit of weight btw. Needs to stay off the KFC.

I had to tape it tonight because we were having a family movie night, so I haven't read the thread yet and here's my take on the performances:

Scott Savol - Oh Jesus, get rid of that man already. Where do I start? OK, let’s start at the very beginning, he looked like the Fat Controller wearing that suit! As for the performance? He seemed to miss his cue because his timing was off in that first line, he had way too much vibrato, he was off-key a lot throughout the performance and that last note!!!! OMG, it was dire. How the hell is he in the last 9?????
Constantine Maroulis - I’d never heard the song so that’s always a negative but overall, he didn’t do a bad job of the singing. The beginning was very boring but once it livened up, it was quite good. He does have quite a nice voice when he belts but it becomes totally insignificant in the softer parts. I can’t look at him when he sings though, because I’m not sure what those theatrics are supposed to make me feel, but all they succeed in doing is making me laugh!
Carrie Underwood - Very polished and professional performance, couldn’t fault it and she looked comfortable and as if she was enjoying herself but I just find her uninspiring. Did anyone else think she looked and sounded like Diana DeGarmo?
Vonzel Soloman - There were one or two tentative notes and few which showed her lower register is quite weak but overall, a good performance and as usual, she sang it with plenty of emotion.
Anthony Fedorov - Not a good song choice - too much in his lower register which is quite weak and often off-key. Then, halfway through the song, he switched to belting it out which sounds way too shouty, he seems to have nothing in between and his shouting really messed up the beginning of that last note! Anyone else notice what looked like a tracheotomy scar, BTW? Oh, and that he seems to be morphing into Jeff Brazier?
Nikko Smith - Nice subtle beginning without the usual tuning problems. Embellished the rest a bit too much but quite a nice performance. What’s with having to compete with that backing singer at the end though? It sounded like Paula singing along!
Anwar Robinson - Sounded like he messed up one note in the middle but other than that, no tuning problems. Much better this week, a ‘nice’ performance and he actually oozed some emotion at one part!
Bo Bice - OMG, not sure about that shirt, I thought he was wearing a red PVC all-in-one when he first came out! Seemed to rock-up a musical quite well, not sure he could have done any better with the theme.
Nadia Turner - When she first came out and sang the first few notes, I thought “Great, this is going to be a Fantasia moment” but although the vocals were great, she just over-did the theatrics for me, probably reminded me too much of Fantasia!
My bottom 3

Yes, I agree. They are exceptional. I wish mine were as good as those. To see them again have a look at the 3rd image in the Vonzell Solomon 'Baby V' thread.

The American Idol dentist really should be on the credits at the end of the show.

The fact that his presence proves a big fat ugly out of tune git can get a spot on international TV. Who needs talent, when burger-boy keeps beating the bounce.

Another mediocre programme for me I'm afraid. Nobody really stood out.

Once again I thought Scott and Anthony were particulary bad - I even tried not looking at Scott as some posters have suggested but no - he was still not v good.

I was disappointed with Fantasia's performance too - I wonder if we saw the whole performance or just an edited portion.

The best part of the programme for me was Nadia's dress and Anwar's smile.

I can't remember the details, but earlier in AI it was discussed. From what I remember, it was done when Anthony was a child and he was told that he would never talk.

Blimey, he sure proved them wrong! Good for him that he's not using it for the sympathy vote, too.

Well this was one of the most difficult weeks for the contestants, which made for anything but easy listening. But here is how I rated them out of 10...........

Scott (6)-Quite honestly,I don't think he's that bad a singer. Not great, but I would rather hear him sing than have a one on one conversation with him.Just something about his empty stare and edgy speaking voice make me nervous quite frankly!

Constantine (5)-There must be something about his "smouldering" which Paula, and for that fact Simon, refer to almost every week. There is no way he has come this far because of a strong singing voice, that's for sure.I agree with Randy that this guy is nothing like the rocker that he claims to be.He is more David Cassidy than Jon Bon Jovi.

Carrie (7)-Simon said weeks ago that she will sell more records than any previous Idol winner. That is quite possible because is such a totally professional singer. She can sing absolute anything and even if you've never heard it before, she can bring something to it.She has to be one of the favourites.

Vonzell (8)-She just gets better every week. How the (expletive deleted!) she was in the bottom three is beyond my comprehension. In a really tough week, she was outstanding.Although I can't get Whitney Houston out of my head when I see her now, because she really was that good last week.

Anthony (6)-This has been bugging me for weeks now and I have finally figured it out.The guy looks exactly like Bombhead from Hollyoaks! The resemblance is uncanny. As for his musical performance, who cares? It was typical Anthony. Not exactly hideous,as Simon suggested.Just so predictable and dull.Like every other week. When is he actually going to do something interesting? I have a couple of suggestions.Like how about sing in a cage full of poisonous snakes? Or juggle throwing knives on stage? Yeah, that would be interesting. And I'd still vote him off!

Nikko (5)-What the hell was that song? To be fair,he performed okay and put in a lot of effort.I believe that is the difference between someone like him and someone like Carrie.Somehow, she can manage to turn water into wine and still make it taste good.

Anwar (6)-Pretty much the same as above really.I give him an extra point because he does have a smoother voice and he looks better in front of the camera.

Bo (5)-Perhaps the favourite a few weeks ago but lucky not to be in the bottom three this week.Very below par.But unlike Constantine, this guy is a real rocker.I think he'll do okay for himself even if he doesn't win.

Nadia (9)-Da bomb! The showstopper.Absolutely stunning. Her best effort yet by a long way,and the show really needed it.

All the girls were very good to excellent, whereas the guys were average to poor.Hopefully they can find a genre next week that can suit all the singers.

Firstly, whoever was responsible for the sound stage and for the over-done musical arrangements should be fired pronto.

Scott..............Terrible. And what was that long speech at the end all about? It seemed to go on for ages.

Anthony...........Truly dreadful. I felt embarassed watching him. Should have been in the bottom three.

Nikko........Horrible song choice - why chose a song that`s supposed to be sung as a duet FFS?! It`s supposed to be a poignant love song. He turned it into a nightclub act.

Anwar...........Okay I suppose. Nice smile. At least he was in tune this week.

Carrie...........One of the judges said she was a "well-oiled machine"........yep........that`s what her performances feel like. Technically very good. Emotionally non-existant.

Constantine........Very good performance, but those silly smouldering looks just make me laugh. He ain`t no rocker. Got the best reception from the audience.

Bo...........Horrible red pvc shirt. Ugh! Didn`t like the song. Are we honestly expected to be believe he chose it by sticking his finger randomly on to a list? If that is indeed what he did then he`s not taking the show seriously enough. Song choices are important. Very disappointed in him. He`s not progressing.

Vonzell.........Technically very good but I agree with Simon - her performance just left me cold. She hadn`t a clue what the words to the song meant. Still, she shouldn`t have been in the bottom three.

Nadia...........Sensational looking and fantastic performance. The best of the night. Let`s hope she keeps it up.

Then we come to Fantasia Does this woman actually know how to walk upright, instead of walking hunched up like a demented chicken, head bobbing and screeching like a banshee? The choir at the back reached the high notes she couldn`t reach because she was so busy screeching out her "yeah yeah yeahs". She was so breathless by the end she almost missed her final line. Absolute crappola. And she seems to have put on more than a stone in weight.

A perfect example of how the public can be manipulated by the Great Machine. Fantasia had a sob story, underdog strives to achieve the American Dream. The public were gradually sold on her over a series of AI. Then the machine really kicked into gear, with the publicity campaign, declaring her a winner and great singer. But could she perform in the real world, and would anyone write truly great material for her? The answer was plain to see on last week's show.
