It was Rodgers who bought the players and Rodgers who alienated Gerard.......Now i think Rodgers will struggle.
We pretty much know BR doesn't have the final say on transfers and it's very questionable whether he alienated Gerrard - sadly Stevie's set piece goals have masked some very ineffective games - such as the hone tie vs Real Madrid. He was not, rightly, undroppable. His presence slowed us down as a counter-attacking side and opposition players ran off and beyond him. The signs were there the previous season but he was able to find willing runners as an out ball then and was also very fuelled on adrenalin. Both were missing this time around.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the return of Pako Ayestaran. Though given that he's currently a manager now in Israel, I can't imagine him wanting to play #2 again at this point in his career.

Mike Bernard on twitter saying FSG want a backroom staff reshuffle and Henry has given Rodgers control of which players are bought this summer.

Also a new £12 mil + add ons bid for Clyne.

I wonder if Rodgers will accept more experience in his backroom staff. As it may have him looking over his shoulder.Could be no bad thing if it helps him to up his game though.

I think or hope he accepts he has flaws and surrounding yourself with knowledge you don't have is only a good thing.

Yet Steven Gerrard had nothing but good things to say about Rodgers. Take your fairytales somewhere else.

New coaching staff is fine but I would like to know who makes the decision on who that will be?
You better hope it's not Jolly Rodgers because he's clueless.

We both know why Gerrard is leaving, take your head out of your arse.

I wouldn't. Rather see people involved who have a passion for the club not an ex Man Utd number 2 who had a brief but poor managerial spell with Fulham.

So what your saying is Gerrard was lying when he said he wishes he met Rodgers earlier?

Instead of speculating how about coming up with some evidence.

By many accounts his a very good coach. I want to see the best coaches at the club and don't care what clubs they have worked rather than some ex Liverpool player who isn't as good.

I know you never asked the 1st question of me but .....maybe not lying just deluded

I do, no ex Man Utd/Everton for me and how do you know some ex Liverpool player wouldn't be as good. We could be missing out on a gem by keeping away from that option perhaps?

Wasn't saying stay away from an ex player I just wouldn't make it prequisite for the job.

Just get the best people for the job ex player or not.

Liverpool are in a better position now than they were a few years ago for sure. But I really am very concerned about the future of our club at the moment.

So much is going on, much of it I don't know why, who's decision it was. I don't even know if they are good or bad decisions.

We are trying to become one of the biggest clubs in England (and even the world) again and I can't help but feel all we going to end up is a top 6-8 club with the odd great season.

Until we get a sugar daddy owner, this is inevitable and we've got to be realistic.

We cannot compete financially with United, Chelsea or City - not that I'd want United's debt, irrespective of how manageable it is.

Arsenal's extra capacity at the Emirates and their continual berth in the CL means they're also stronger than us at present - but they are within reach financially, especially once we expand Anfield.

That's why I bang on about dropping out of top four in Rafa's last season - it put us back and allowed competitors to gain ground on us. We did fantastically to get back in the CL last season given where we are financially but sadly the loss of Suarez and Sturridge coupled with the lack of impact from Balotelli meant we didn't sustain that status.

We've already proved, along with Spurs, that developing a star player in a confident team with some momentum can break back into the top four and the financial boost that gives plus the carrot it dangles for potential buys cannot be underestimated.

I just hope FSG aren't starting to use the club as a cash cow and continue to speculate to accumulate. Free signings and sub-£20m buys were fine when we were beefing up the squad but now we need to re-invest in star talent to try and stay in touch with the top four. The extra Premier League and TV deal money plus the sponsorship income mustn't be lost to FSG - I'm starting to fear they are "doing an Ashley" and cutting back on investment whilst boosting their coffers. This summer will tell us a lot about their intentions.

Why is that an 'issue' for FSG? A freak accident that could have happened at any baseball game and nothing to do with who the owners of the home team were, especially as the batter wasn't a Red Sox player anyway.

To be fair, I would have thought it would be much harder to swallow something like Paul Ince being signed than having Maulensteen as a coach. I don't think he was ever suited to being a manager but he seems to be highly regarded as a coach and despite having coached Man Utd he is hardly engrained in their history.

Pako Ayestarian would be a good choice, again, not that I see that happening -

Suarez minutes away from winning a treble and scoring the decider in a CL final.Probably made a good choice of club to join!!

Be thankful for small mercies, he could'be been winning a CL for another English club.

It had to be didn't it, Luis Suarez with the winning goal in CL final.

Hat trick of trophies in his first season with Barca.

Come on now then Luis, you've won it all in spain come back to LFC

Edit - Well not the last goal in the game, but the all important one

Well done Mascherano and Suarez and welcome to the five times winners club Barcelona.
Four of those won since 2006, just a phenomenal club.
