His a professional. People seem to assume that players will just down tools but that's not a certainty. Sniedelien wanted to leave southampton but didn't and did he down tools? Sterling wants to play for England
and go to the Euros. That means he must play well for whoever he plays for.Sterling isn't gonna throw away his england spot just because he is unhappy at Liverpool. He isnt gonna decide not to play or anything along them lines. Do that for a season and the talk of being one of Europe's top young players soon goes out the window. He will be on the bench and not playing if he does. What benefit is that for raheem for the next season. It's easy to have reputation and stock downgraded in football when you don't play. Yes he maybe unhappy but he will get on with things. Deliberately not playing well or not putting in the right effort is not gonna happen . |

He will be chomping at the bit for a move to City now that they're within touching distance of getting him. With the recent report saying Sterling wants his move completed early so he can focus on the new season and with City making a big offer so early on in the window, it's clear to me that conversations have already been had behind closed doors. If it's not wrapped up soon I will honestly be surprised. |

He may well be a 'professional' footballer in title but he's acted far from it... mainly down to the fact of him having a less than professional agent. I wouldn't rule anything out while he is calling the shots. Remember the leak that said no matter what, even if we offered £900k a week or something, he wouldn't let Sterling sign a new contract? If I was a betting man, I'd say any sort of relationship with the club has deteriorated somewhat over recent months!

What benefit is that for raheem for the next season. It's easy to have reputation and stock downgraded in football when you don't play. Yes he maybe unhappy but he will get on with things. Deliberately not playing well or not putting in the right effort is not gonna happen . Seriously how often does this really happen? Its not often. You are confusing what you think should happen with what will. If Sterling doesn't get his move and is at Liverpool next season when he wants to leave, and is on £35k a week when he has had £180k dangled in front of him you are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think you are going to have him full of vim and vigour come August. Im not saying he is going on strike or anything but there is no way you re getting a top form player in your line up. And as for his stock downgrading well if that happens it hurts you just as much as him because you won't be getting £40m offered for an out of form unhappy player. By all means negotiate for the best price, thats sensible but you are now in the region of what is a very attractive deal for Liverpool and at this point any concept of him not being sold should be abandoned completely. Get rid, get the cash in, pay QPR and start getting your own business done nice and early. That is what is best for Liverpool in the long run and with an important season coming up for the manager. Thats should be the priority. It does no one any favours to have this dragging out across the transfer window and delaying your own business, just to eek out a few extra million. The news is just breaking of more laughing gas allegations, get the cash in before he becomes further damaged goods!!! |

OK so we let him go then what? We buy more "Potential"? We don't need potential we need established players, the problem is they won't come to Liverpool. As things are at the moment Gerrard gone, Sterling about to go we are at best a mid table club.

Answer: we are still PERCEIVED as a 'big' club to some (agents and players) - with wages commensurate to a team that will still be EXPECTED to challenge for Europe rather than by having an over-performing run because the mix of players is hungry with an up and coming or developing manager. It's just our manager that's hitting 'the stretch after' the difficult third album That fixture list should include BR away to JK in January. MIght be kindest in the long run if our patch job is minimal like it is so far.

I said before I'd be taking the £40m for him, and that would be £40m upfront without the add-ons, that knowing City, might never materialise. I'd also fancy a deal for Jovetic on loan for a season with an option to buy. |

Skrtel's agent being quoted indicating Martin's contract problems are sorted and he'll be signing a new deal when he returns from holiday. He also says he had serious interest from Inter Milan.

Keeping Skrtel could be more important than keeping Sterling in the short term at least. Excellent news if he's now happy with the contract being offered.
Regarding Sterling, I think one more offer from City which nets us £40m once the QPR slice is deducted will be sufficient. There's a big difference between how we dealt with the offer from Arsenal for Suarez two summers ago and how we are dealing with City now. Then we clearly had no intention of letting Suarez go under any circumstances. Now it's clear it's about the right deal. I'd personally rather we kept him for another 12 months but I am pragmatic enough to see that's not likely. |

Joe Gomez is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Friday ahead of becoming the Reds’ fourth signing of the summer.
The Charlton Athletic defender is due on Merseyside in the next 24 hours, after Liverpool triggered a release clause in the Londoner’s contract, which will enable them to sign him for an initial £3.5m. |

This Gomez is said to be highly rated and is sought after by other top clubs, don't know who though. I read a comment on FB saying a scout or someone likened him to Ferdinand, but not saying which Ferdinand. The fact that Brendan has a son called Anton worries me.

Lots of talk that you have agreed a deal with Southampton for Clyne, he would be a good signing for you guys.

Hopefully it's not Les Ferdinand, otherwise I fear Charlton may have severely misused him

Suarez had the right attitude and mentality to make that work. I don't think Sterling has that. An unhappy Sterling won't benefit us at all.
The club should speak with him one final time, if he still insists he doesn't want to be here, tell City 40M and he's yours! Still hoping someone wants Balo off our hands too, and Borini and then get one more striker in. Clyne seems a good Johnson replacement to me. |

It looks like Ilori had a decent game helping to keep Harry Kane quiet in the U21's.
Though when you've got a DM like Carvalho in playing in front of you, it makes an easier game for the CB's. He looks a very good, tall, powerful midfielder who's still young enough that he'll probably get even better in a more competitive league. He'd be a great target and signing for us, even if it meant good old Lucas having to move on. |

Clyne is as good as gone. Southampton have signed a new RB. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...alling-5908752 Quote:
Liverpool are ready to call Manchester City’s bluff on their claim they have made a final offer for Raheem Sterling. This is what I was saying yesterday. Either sterling stays or we get the asking price which is hefty. Either option isn't too bad for the club. The Reds rejected that bid - worth £40million - for young England star Sterling this week, and now they will make clear they expect that to be the end of the matter, as it was supposed to be a take it or leave it deal. And their message to deposed Premier League champions City couldn’t be simpler: Shut up OR pay up. Liverpool’s American owners are sick of the circus that has sprung up around the talented 20-year-old. The only thing I think the owners should do is tell city that if they are gonna pay £50 mil it needs to be done within 7 days or no deal at all. |
