I could be wrong, but I don't think Alan is asking for disclosure on transfers or anything like that, he just wants some idea about what these guys do.

So for example, Dave Fallows is head of recruitment apparently... Hunter does the analysis, but what do they actually do?
Recruit and analyse presumably, the same way the cleaners clean and the cooks cook.

There's probably a reason why they don't put it out there, and who knows, it might disadvantage them for others to understand the methods publicly, successful or not.

Do people want staff to list job descriptions and all the rest of it?

Yeah but when the likes of Carr and Mitchell have been happy to talk about this sort of thing, at Liverpool it's shrouded in mystery and they have been awful.

At least at United you know.for example Woodward handles the negotiating, for example.

Apart from satisfying nosiness, what does that knowledge achieve?

Like I said, if the committee were actually useful no-one would give a shit. I'm only curious because of their combined ineptitude.. I can't speak for Alan..

Thanks mate - you have done a pretty good job in speaking for me as I would have given much the same answers - only prob not as concisely as you!!

My asking of the question a day or two ago and the responses have maybe caused me to examine what exactly I would want and what my issues are - and it is as CC says that they are so poor at what they do (or at times seem to have been) that you want to know some more details so you analyse what is going wrong a bit better. Those who pointed out that in the days of Robinson and Smith ...etc that they were low profile are right too and I was fine with that - as things worked well. Actually tho I do not see those two doing quite what the committee does now as to my knowledge they were never involved in the selection of players to recruit - which is obviously key to the performance of the team whereas now the committee has a key role in that - so I would just like to hear from them from time to time - cos as things stand I have never heard from them at all.

To me still 35 years after his death and 40 years since he was manager the ways of Bill Shankly should have a big say in how the club is run as he set the template. It was a template that saw the fans as key - saying 'we play for you and if the players did not know then they know it now as I have drummed it into them' and the epitaph on his statue outside Anfield is 'he made the people happy'. From what I can see and what he says even in his first week at the club Klopp has a bit of the same mentality in him. You can see this in how the BD fans saw him so lets hope he brings that more into the way the club operates - as I do think we have gone away from that a bit.

I understand that viewpoint, but we are now in an era when profit seems to be the main driving force with owners and the business people they appoint to run clubs. They are cynical enough to know that fans will cling on to the bitter end. Certainly they don't like it if the fans in the ground start to send the club negative signals. That upsets the players, they play less well and so the chance for big European money is lessened.

One day, we'll have an international break where none of our English players suffer a serious injury. Joe Gomez out for 9 months with a ruptured ACL.
It looks like Ings is out for the season as well with a cruciate ligament injury.

Suddenly we look light in striker options now.

Origi it is then.

I wonder if any of the youth players will be promoted to first team duties.

May end up recalling Ballotelli

It's strange isn't it. When they first signed I welcomed them to the club but thought they weren't the most inspirational of signings but a few weeks in and they have proven me wrong. They were two of our better performing players. I'm actually gutted that they're both injured.

I wish them both well and hope for a speedy and full recovery.

I think, if given the choice, Klopp would be more inclined to recall Samed Yesil

Yesil also ruptured his ACL back in 2012, came back, then ruptured it again in 2013. He's a natural goal scorer when fit though.

Is Jerome Sinclair fit? I know he was rumoured to be leaving but turns out he's still here and with Klopp in he might be useful, if fit. A quick Google search says he suffered an injury in August. Hopefully it's better now or he's near fitness.

We should just get all our English players to pull a sickie whenever the international break comes up.

Sturridge and Origi left, if Firmino comes back soon he can play there, might even see Ibe given a go there in the same way Sterling was last season. Hopefully we won't become that desparate.

Who'd have thought that Sturridge would be our fittest striker?

Not another one out for the season that's rotten luck.

How many teams have two players out for the season? even rarer for them both to be within days of each other.

Yet again, it seems we are relying on Sturridge staying fit....which normally doesn't go too well.

wish them both the speediest of recoveries.

What an eventful few weeks can't believe we actually got Klopp!!!!! I really did think it might be someone of a lesser name.

Injuries, injuries, I guess we might be looking at recalls. Markovic???

My first choice to get back, maybe with Wisdom as back up - if we still own him? It's a sickener for both those lads, and scarey as hell that we now have to rely on Sturridge for a striker, we all know his porcelain body well.

For all that, I would rather be in this position with Klopp in charge than with Rodgers.
