Liverpool need to start scoring goals and doing it quickly.
With the lack of attacking options open to Klopp, he really needs to stick a second striker up front, even if it's a midfielder, and it results in him losing games due to being short in midfield. If the team keeps scraping 0-0 and 1-1 draws until the January transfer window when Klopp can hopefully get a no expense spared 20 a season striker, he may already find himself in a bad place with the fans. They were already walking out early at Anfield against Rubin Kazan. I found that to be shocking given it was Klopp's first home game. I rate Klopp but I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to slaughter the man for coming in and doing the best he's got with somebody else's squad. We're all sick to the back teeth of hearing the world 'rebuilding' around these parts but for the first time in a long time, it actually fills me with confidence because I have complete faith that Klopp will do a good job and will reap the rewards once he can put his own stamp on the squad. We're at the start of a brand new period, he's taken charge of TWO matches and I'm reading negative comments. Give the man a chance. |

Jeez, have you heard yourself? Give the man a bloody chance. He's taken over with the season already in full swing and the next transfer window available to him is the worst one of the two. Any supporters who may have ill feeling toward him in your scenario would need to have serious words with themselves.

I didn't say I was expecting us to achieve what I wrote, only hoping for it. I think the players we have can do better. Other managers have taken over clubs in a much worse situation than ours and totally transformed them, in the same season using the same players, so the fact they're "Rodgers players" shouldn't be used as an excuse. I'm prepared to give Klopp time, but I would like to see an improvement fairly soon.

Every signing more or less BR brought in isn't working, those you mentioned also apart from maybe Moreno, all out and Firmino too just another over priced flashy footballer.
Hope the players can give JK a happy home PL debut win tomorrow, I think a win could take us 6th?? If so things will start looking rosier already. Need a striker though, but if sick note is out again we will have to start Benteke I'd say, Origi not up to it as yet. |

I'd rather not write off Firmino at this point yet either. He's not hit the ground running, sure, but neither did Thierry Henry (and no, I'm not saying he'll be Thierry Henry). The talent is there, his cameo against Kazan encouraging.
We must have the most impatient fanbase in the world. |

As an aside though, given the stick some Liverpool posters have got for mentioning The Sun here, Im surprised there is this much dialogue taking place with someone who suggested that Liverpool should "get over" Hillsborough.

You are right with the bit in bold but we still have to give Klopp time, I don't think there are any higher profile managers than him that we'd attract. As long as he improves the football we were producing under Brendan's last season worth of games thats the start.
You'd seriously want Emre Can out??? Blimey! he has been very poor this season, true the last couple of games he was good, but he has still been very poor from towards the end of last season, and made many errors givign ball away which cost us goals |

Of these last posts, CC, Alan, Assa, Eddie& Sloth are about the only realism in this thread for quite a while.
Hell, if any of the other LFC fans are all twining like the rest of you (and yep, I know Eddie isn't LFC - but he's got it more right that most of you) in here, we may as well shut up shop and give up now! I have never seen such a bunch of saddos pertaining to be fans, you all really need to get a grip, or go support one of the plastic clubs instead. Klopp asked for Patience, and he asked us to Believe - if you can't do both, you don't belong in here - or, you're just not a fan of the club. The lack of patience and understanding by some is stunning. Firstly Klopp obviously will need time to get the team playing effectively his way and secondly he has not had some very key players for a large part of his two games so far - consider the fact that we have 4 strikers on the books and 3 of them have not been available for most of the time - therefore the lack of goals is not that surprising. I do think our midfield and wide players will need to chip in with more goals tho and I think Klopp will know that too and he will aim to make a difference there for the likes of Can, Ibe, Firmino, Hendo and Lallana by employing high pressing full throttle football as he calls it. The main job of these 5 is not to score it is to assist the main scorers but unless they (and the defenders for that matter - from corners and free kicks for instance) contribute a few goals then there could be a problem. We may also have to try to recruit a genuine goal scoring midfielder. Defensive midfielders like Lucas and Allen will not score much we know that. I am always hopeful and try to be as positive as I can. Even I tho know that we will not win the PL this season and I think top 2 or 3 is probably unlikely too - not cos we are too far behind yet but cos we are not playing consistently well enough. However with the way CFC are doing then 4th may be possible but only if we get our act together - with Klopp as coach and the consequent possibility of new recruits in January that is perhaps the best we can hope for in terms of final position. My main hope tho is not so much about the final position it is about the way the team plays - I simply want to see a change in style so that success seems more likely in the future. I must admit too I am hoping for some exciting signings too - if not in January then certainly next summer. As has been said - by one of Orch's sensible ones I think!! - this time in a years time is when we will be able to see what the chances are of Klopp really getting us the success we crave - and to me success is not finishing 4th and getting into the CL every season, it is one day to see LFC winning the PL, that is what I really hope for!! |

Klopp is the best manager any Liverpool fan could possibly have hoped to have appointed as the new manager.
Klopp will take time to asses the squad and decide where there needs to be sales and new signings. As a result Liverpool could be a real force next season. That should be enough to have every Liverpool fan looking forward with optimism. |

Liverpool's expenditure means that they're unlikely to be 'a force' for some time. 5th is par, anything higher is over-achievement.
Are you going to let me know which clubs are 'plastic'? (If I don't answer again, I have retired for the night!).

Instead of warning people, be interesting and tell us who you would have played? What red-hot striking option have you got up your sleeve?

What do people think of the ongoing Sturridge injury? I presume he's not even going to be on the bench today? Does anybody else think that with his constant injuries, and subsequent time away from the pitch, that it's time to move him on? Could be a serious thinking point for Klopp during the summer IMO.

Sorry Jim, been off here for a while. In answer, and imo Chelsea and City were always classed as such, but the point is that this 'person' is no more a Liverpool fan than you are.
(If I don't answer again, I have retired for the night!). ![]() I have to say, I think that's incredibly unfair on City and Chelsea. Both clubs have loads of history, even if they haven't been wildly successful, until the investment. Yes, they probably do have rather a lot of new 'fans', but Liverpool and United are far from immune, when it comes to 'plastic' fans. |

Its like the boy who cried wolf Remember what we got told for 6 months last season ``when daniel comes back we will fire the goals in again`` He came back for a month and was out again for another 6 months!!! Not to mention the logic that nobody ever stops to think.. isnt it pathetic that a team costing hundreds of millions cant be excpected to score goals and need to rely on one player to do so????????/

You've got to be realistic and let the new players bed in, injuries to clear up and Klopp given an opportunity to buy the players he wants. |
