To be fair, Benteke had serious injury issues before we signed him. Same with Sturridge; it's a risk we were well aware of prior to buying them.

Origi would be fine to lead the line if our midfielders could pitch in with the goals, but sadly we've got a bunch of number 10s who aren't particularly prolific. Here's hoping Firmino can step up and be the answer to our problems.

Reminds me of comments I heard on LFCTV after one of our matches - our players are too nice and too soft, we need some blood and thunder players, more Smashy than Nicey. Suarez was kicked all over the park, stamped on and splattered with blood, but I don't recall him ever not playing due to injury, he just got on with it.

I was hoping Benteke was going to be of that calibre, tough as the old boots players used to wear, but no, seems he's another lightweight. Why on earth did we ever let THIS guy leave, he was one of the very best for us, and is still rocking it.
Thing is I can see Henderson and Ings being those types of players, yet they're both out injured.

Hendo is reckoned to be back playing Mid November - all being well, and yes, he is of that calibre, our Jordon has a tough geordie streak in him!

Never forget him facing down Costa till he backed off!

Three young players get their full debut, Lovren comes back, nice to see Firmino start. Hope to see Sinclair come on in the second half (probably for Origi).

Looks like Klopp's resting most of the main players for Saturday.

We are such a weak team when a few players get injured . I can not see a goal being scored with this team .

That's a very attacking lineup given Brannagan likes to get forward - Allen has a key role as the only DM. Looming forward to seeing more of Randall and Teixeira and hope Sinclair gets on. Hopefully Firmino will impose himself tonight.

May be a "few players" but considering three of them are our 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice strikers, any significant criticism is a bit harsh.

Hugely strong bench should there be a lack of talent on the pitch on the night, so, I am just going to sit back and enjoy. I think Klopp has been very brave in what he's doing, but he's doing the best he can with what he has - bearing in mind we have Chelsea on the horizon.

Looking forward to seeing our young'uns get blooded - be willing them every step of the way. See you on the other side!

Lovely follow up from Clyne after a bit of cockiness from Teixieria nearly went in.
Fine goal and we're 1-0 up 20 mins now gone.

Wow, the atmosphere is completely dead tonight, never known it this quiet.

The young lads have done well, can't complain (apart from Joe Allen).

Nearly scored a peach after a Suarezesque nutmeg. Some great touches. Enjoying himself I think.

Back heeling the ball, when nothing else was on, which is then cleared from the line about 50cms short of a goal is a bit more than cockiness.

Superb improvisation would be my description, and it led directly to a goal.

I'd welcome loads more such cockiness.

Good to hear. Can't watch it as recording two things on the Sky box so but Forza on.

Firmino just ate a badger - and he didn't even use a spoon...
